Has been a privilege to be part of the inclusive education working group!The public education funding formula & allocation has not changed since 2002 & while the current system meets the needs of some students, other students with unique learning needs could be better served.

Unfortunately stigma around ASD keeps families from seeking a diagnosis and services for their children. Parents are scared of kids being diagnosed because they feel it'll label them and affect how other people think of them.

@alejandroforsc1 I firmly believe that students diagnosed prior to kindergarten should be identified at the time of registration in the Spring and have supports in place at public school when they start on day one. #bced

Though ASD can be reliably diagnosed by age 2 for most children, the average age of diagnosis is 5. Early intervention is crucial;it can translate to a lifetime of impact by supporting healthy development,decreasing challenging behaviors & leading to positive outcomes in life.

@DeeBeattieNW Thank you for all your insight on work that EAs do. We need to know that they do more than provide support for youth across the education system.
They support the teacher in the classroom & ensure pupils can gain the most from each lesson & encourage kids in need of extra help!
