This essay from @alejawrites is one of the most heartbreaking and beautiful we've ever run on @HuffPost Personal (and one of the only ones that's made me cry while I edited it)
At the end of a big week of big feelings, find some time to read this one

@ItsMeElisaLou She also doesn't have kids (as far as I'm aware) and is coming at this as a former babysitter. My kids will often be tricked by a babysitter, but never by me. I take her hacks with a grain of salt given that, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how many work for us.
@mitchellbyars When I think of local journalists I admire, you're at the top of the list. It's a loss for our community but hopefully an ultimate win for you. Congratulations on this next chapter, and thanks for everything.
@mSuKsBe I had a traumatic birth where my baby and I almost died. He then did actually die in the NICU 6 weeks later. I'm here to tell you his birth still would have been traumatic if I'd been lucky enough to bring him home. A positive outcome doesn't negate a terrifying medical event.
@KRaymerBishop As the mom of a preemie who did not leave the NICU, this genuinely makes me so happy. I love knowing the people who did absolutely everything to give our babies the best possible chance remember, even years later. ๐
@pediatrix@pediatrix I'm a quiet, calm, and patient person. Unfortunately for you, that doesn't apply to injustice or my children's health. I'm also a journalist.
I will stop tweeting at you now, but I am far from done with your company.
@pediatrix I've been on hold for 1 hour waiting to speak to a supervisor. Is it policy to make it impossible to speak to a supervisor regarding billing disputes? I've been trying to deal with this since November 2023 and would love to talk to someone who can actually help me.
@pediatrix@pediatrix Your silence on a public platform is as telling as your abysmal customer service + billing practices. You prey on families who have no choice but to take their kids to a hospital or clinic that uses your services, then hope we'll go away when you treat us like garbage.
@LeRenardeAmer@DeniseDT@clhubes I think you're operating under the assumption that everybody hates kids and hates spending time with them. Some people do. Lots of people actually enjoyed babysitting and interacting with kids! I still enjoy it, but babysitting was so enjoyable to me because it wasn't 24/7.
@clhubes And even when we have the TV on, my kids are doing other stuff. Blue's Clues is on, but I've read my son two books, he and his sister have colored with the water mat, and he's spent plenty of time running in between both rooms screaming and playing chase.
Yโall, we just need places that children can BE. I get why it canโt be the library. But where the f*ck should it be then? Where can I take my kids when itโs cold outside and they are begging to leave the house? We donโt have money for a trampoline park every week. Tell me. WHERE.
