• The Dance of the Dragons, depicted in
House of the Dragon season 2, witnessed dragonriders battling for the Iron Throne, resulting in the deaths of their dragons.

• Caraxes, Daemon Targaryen's dragon, perished in a legendary duel with Vhagar, piloted by Aemond Targaryen, during the Battle Above The Gods Eye.

• Vhagar, one of the largest and most formidable dragons, also met her end in the same duel, succumbing to her injuries.

• Syrax, Rhaenyra Targaryen's dragon, tragically fell victim to an uprising in King's Landing, where an angry mob stormed the Dragonpit and killed her.

• Vermax, bonded with Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, lost his life during the Battle of the Gullet, when he was struck by a crossbow bolt and crashed into a burning ship.

• Dreamfyre, initially ridden by Rhaena Targaryen and later by Princess Helaena Targaryen, perished when the Dragonpit collapsed during the uprising in King's Landing.

• Moondancer, the dragon of Baela Targaryen, met her demise in a duel with Sunfyre, ridden by Aegon II Targaryen, during the Targaryen Civil War.

• Seasmoke, Laenor Velaryon's dragon, later claimed by Addam of Hull, was killed in a three-way fight with Tessarion and Silverwing during the second Battle of Tumbleton.

• Sunfyre, the dragon of King Aegon II Targaryen, suffered severe injuries at Rooks Rest and later refused to eat, eventually succumbing to starvation and his wounds.

• Meleys, an older dragon ridden by Princess Rhaenys, was brutally killed by Vhagar during the Battle of Rooks Rest.

• Vermithor, one of the oldest dragons, outlived his first rider, King Jaehaerys, and was later claimed by Prince Jacaerys Valaryon and Hugh Hammer. He was defeated in a battle involving Tessarion and Seasmoke.
