'Kurdish people, denied their own state, have experienced genocide. The West doesn’t care because their oppressors aren’t Israeli.'
@DavidHarrisNY argues there's a 'striking asymmetry' in how The West consider both the Kurdish and Palestinian causes ⤵️

@MiranShamall Architects should always look at history of sites and then design for its present and future. Unfortunately, I feel cities like Suli n Hawler are more concerned with growth by any means…
I am writing this from Erbil as drones are intercepted overhead, their explosions close enough to rattle the windows. A few hours ago, my three children watched my face for clues about whether to be afraid.
Which is what makes it almost impossible to write about Halabja thirty-eight years on. What does “never again” mean for a people who have never really left the emergency?
On March 16, 1988, Saddam Hussein’s forces dropped chemical weapons on the Kurdish province of Halabja. Between 3,000 and 5,000 people were killed within hours. Entire families were found where they fell, in doorways, in the street, holding each other. It remains the largest chemical weapons attack on a civilian population in history. The world watched, noted it, and largely moved on.
Thirty-eight years later, I am sitting in Erbil counting explosions.
Kurdish history does not move in straight lines from catastrophe to recovery. It circles. Just as something resembling hope becomes possible, just as we dare to reach for it, the ground shifts again.
Piers Morgan manages to ask Mehdi Hasan the same question seven times, in his trademark interrogatory style, and not once does he get Khamenei's name right.
He calls him Khomeini, an entirely different person.
I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Salih Muslim’s death. He was a courageous and inspiring leader who was deeply committed to the Kurdish cause and Rojava. May he rest in eternal peace.
Orta Doğu coğrafyasının tıpkı bir asır evvel olduğu gibi yeniden ameliyata alınmasını, ameliyat masasına tekrar yatırılmasını kabul etmiyoruz, etmeyeceğiz.
As these reports were stated to be from a US government official who leaked this information to the media - I want to state this as a Kurd:
Asking us to partake in this war as the Iranian regime has been an extremely hostile regime towards the Kurdish people is given - urging us to join the war is acceptable.
Leaking false information to media outlets; likely with the goal of creating a chain reaction which would have ultimately led the Kurdish people to be pulled into the war is - to say the least - an extremely hostile act towards the Kurdish people.
If the Barzani regime allows its CIA-backed terrorists to make a move against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraqi Resistance forces and Iran's armed forces will crush the mafia regime and swiftly liberate Erbil and return it to the Iraqi central government.
Iraq: The U.S. government cares about your safety and will continue to share information you need to make informed decisions. U.S. citizens in Iraq are strongly encouraged to depart as soon as they are safely able to do so, and shelter in place until such time as conditions are safe to depart. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items. Full alert: https://t.co/BpJJy3RCCk
Kurds getting involved would risk self sabotage especially if Iran is already threatening to target the KRG.
Many reasons Kurdistan should focus on achieving Armed Neutrality (wishful thinking) but also not to dismiss the fact that there is an opportunity opening for Rojhelat🥹
The Kurds have been invaluable partners to the US in the fight against terrorism in the Middle East. It makes perfect sense for us to work with them to unseat this evil dictatorship.
