Rajdhani Express built in 1969 Speed- 140 kmph

Shatabdi Express built in 1988 Speed- 150 kmph

Garib Rath Express built in 2006 Speed- 130 kmph

Duronto Express built in 2009 Speed- 140 kmph

#VandeBharatExpress built in 2019 Speed- 160 kmph

That's 10 kmph faster than Shatabdi Express which Indian Railways built 35 years back.

Recently spent a day in a village at a colleague's place.

The family supports #BJP.

The reason - They beleive ONLY BJP can put the Scheduled Castes /Tribes in their proper place. That is at the bottom most position in social hierarchy.

Evidence for that thought - Because BJP is against "reservation" and ONLY they will abolish it.

Because of reservation policy, the lower caste people have educated themselves better, got good jobs, rise through promotions and become respectable in society

Aspired outcome - So that a SC/ST person should never be allowed to assume equal status to the castes above them.

This equity-equality is an unacceptable outcome. This HAS to be stopped. Since BJP understands this discomfort of the upper castes, they will work towards resetting the social hierarchy is caste basis.

Incidentally, this colleague's family is from a OBC (Other Backward Caste) Community. They themselves are treated below the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and even some of the Shudras sub castes as per the ancient social hierarchy system.

Out of curiosity, I asked them about the anti Muslim factor for supporting BJP. They insisted that relationship with Muslims were very cordial and they do not concern or bother them as far as the social hierarchy equations are concerned.The problem lies elsewhere.

Their ONLY "want" is that the SC/ST should never be allowed to climb the social ladder by education or prosperity. And they see "reservation" as the enabler that empowers this social revolution. That has to be fixed. BJP can help them achieve this goal. So they vote for BJP at Centre but regional parties in State elections.

This interaction has convinced me more about a thought that I had since long. The media hype about tension between Hindu-Muslim community is farce. This is a smoke screen by the BJP behind which they hide and actually working towards resetting the society back to the Manu days. To the harshest social order that the world has ever known.

Its the social hierarchy and its ability to subjugate lower caste people that is a compulsive 'want'. This is the jagaran/जागरण that the BJP propaganda has brought home.

BJP is just riding on this unfortunate but ancient-inherent fault line in our social ethos, and building a political career out of it.

Politicians do this.

But as a Society, we have to ask ourselves - whether we should become a progressive one and adopt values of inclusivity and equity amongst citizens, or should we disintegrate and deteriorate into a regressive one where subjugation and persecution of fellow citizens becomes the norm.
