Thank you @Indie88Toronto for playing my late brother's song yesterday: "Don't Text Her" by Hot Tea. It meant so much to us to hear him and to share his music with the city. We miss him so much.
Eva Victor names her favorite pop culture moment:
âWhen Fergie did all the flips. To me, what Fergie puts into this worldâwe cannot understand what we have on our hands.â

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontariâio, which, appropriately, means âthe lake is beautiful, the lake is bigâ.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario â then, now and always.
@edgarwright Thank you for making this movie! I saw it on opening night and loved it. Itâs such a great time capsule of Toronto from those years that I treasure deeply.

Dominic Sessa on why he agreed to play Anthony Bourdain:
âHonestly, because I really liked Matt Johnson. I didnât know anything about Bourdain. I only really felt motivated to dig my head into it if I was doing it with Matt. Initially, it wasnât something I felt like I wanted to do that much. I didnât really know how to do it, and Matt made it sound exciting. He made it make sense to me.
If you have a good trust in the director youâre working with, things typically work out.â

The domestic box office is reaching its highest overall weekend total of all time.
The $355 million+ domestic opening of âSpider-Man: Brand New Dayâ â a possible all-time record â and the $51 million third weekend of âThe Odysseyâ pushed total grosses across all releases over $434 million.
That surpasses the $402 million overall total recorded in April 2019, which was propelled by the opening of âAvengers: Endgame."

Ten years ago, I discovered a 700-strong list on @MUBI entitled âEdgar Wrightâs Favorite Moviesâ, which came as something of a surprise, as I hadnât written it. Though the American spelling of âfavouriteâ was a clue.
The list had been created by Sam DiSalle, so I reached out to ask how he had compiled it. He explained that it included every film I had ever said I liked in interviews, articles and polls. I asked if I could edit it and, over the next few months, after much addition and subtraction, gave him enough further suggestions to bring the grand total up to a round 1,000 films.
Every now and then I update it and thought I would do so ten years on. It is a very personal and entirely subjective selection of favourites from more than 100 years of cinema. Some people get extremely riled up about films they perceive to be âmissingâ, so please be warned: any comments along the lines of âWhat, noâŚ?â will be deleted. Itâs only one personâs list, and the great news is you can absolutely make your own. In fact, I encourage you to!
I enjoy keeping the list fluid for my own pleasure, amusement and reference. Iâm sharing a recently updated version in the hope that youâll have fun poring over it and diving into some films you havenât seen, or perhaps havenât even heard of. I should also apologise to my friends at @1000filmsblog for adding and removing titles. I really donât mean to increase your workload! Anything that has ever appeared on the list remains valid; I simply like to cycle films in and out according to rewatches and new discoveries.
And, of course, enormous thanks to Sam DiSalle for helping me put it all together and maintain it over the years. Links to his MUBI and @letterboxd versions of the list are below. Film-watching is a lifetime pursuit, and there are still so many others out there for me to see. I hope these two lists are a great place to for you to start. Please give my regards to your eyeballs!
Threw on Ariana Grandeâs new video today and was shocked at what I saw. Genuinely very concerned about her. Sheâs so talented but clearly very sick. Hoping she gets the help she needs before itâs too late đ˘
First time seeing something in Screen X and woof⌠not a fan. Even worse the first 10 mins it wasnât working and they had to stop the movie and restart it from the beginning so that the screens could work.
Per Matt and Jay, we will refrain from saying it's going to be a great show.
