It’s crazy to have been part of a course and feel such connection with individuals without ever having met one another. This course within itself has taught me a lot about social media relationship dynamics
@natabitbol2019 I think it’s important to teach the importance of human connection. It’s okay to allow for exceptions or what not, but I believe the no phone rule at the table should be a part of all households
@lanni_duong My fam just cancelled our home phone plan. It became a point where we would let it ring and knew it was important if someone tried to call our cell phones on the second try
My greatest learning from this course is that media can be our greatest ressource, as well as our biggest enemies. We must remain educated and attentive to insure we benefit from it in the most positive ways
@bettan_chiara Since YouTube started incorporating demonetization, so many influencers started to turn to brand deals to keep their content going. I feel like many influencers have lost themselves in this process. They had to chose between brand deals or sacrifice content to remain monetized
@SheikhFeizan Would have preferred the journal responses to be more interactive. I think that could have generated deeper connection than tweets that limit you to 140 characters.
Even though I am notoriously known for never updating my social media accounts, I always find myself browsing my news feeds. The obsession is less about shaping how others see me, and more of a way of escaping boredom.
@MAmselem Enjoyed the assignments and grade distribution. But I felt as though too much of our learning came from the readings, and less from the teacher. I have taken many online classes, and found I could have had the same learning outcome from just reading the book
@MAmselem I bought an alarm clock so that I don’t check my phone first thing in the morning. Ignorance can be bliss for those first 5 minutes of my day
@VanessaSeveri17@AMcvey30 I think influencer and YouTube fame is just as valid as any other mainstream celebrity. It’s a different hustle but its one all the same. There will always be some who got lucky, but I don’t think YouTube fame is anymore worrisome than the importance we give to mainstream celebs
YouTube opens a door to new perspective and diverse mindsets. The social interaction it enables is what makes such a media company a Web 2.0 rather than a Web 1.0.
