@worldviewconvos Listened to a few of your recent podcasts. Really helpful stuff. Wondering if you've ever heard of The Grace of Shame by @tbayly. Deals with evangelicals caving on issues related to homosexuality, including Mohler, Keller, et al. https://t.co/sLcM75PBPe

@Ameen_HGA @a_crooked_stick @desiringGod I could list many of the people giving the backlash, a significant # of whom parade their sexual rebellion against God (patterns matter). Here’s my point: this article struck a nerve, and it did so because Morse dared to lay a finger on our idols of sexual perversion. ✌🏻
@Ameen_HGA@desiringGod And this is slander. It’s a smear on the author intended to wrongly discredit him. I defy you to find anywhere this author says that we’re not justified by faith alone.
@bivofollower @desiringGod This particular backlash—from the usual suspects against an author who dared to lay a finger on our idols of sexual rebellion—shows that he hit the nail on the head.
@Ameen_HGA@desiringGod Agreed. However, we can encourage believers who are being criticized for speaking truth, which is what is happening here. Most of the criticisms are unfair and deliberately distort or ignore what is actually written in the article.
@RyanHeffernon@desiringGod In Scripture I think it’s more common that there is severe backlash when faithful prophets and apostles are preaching the truth. Jeremiah, Jesus, and Paul were all opposed by those who claimed to be the people of God. False prophets declare peace, peace where there is no peace.
@CALEB_GARRETT@desiringGod No, he does when he uses an extreme example like wearing lipstick. Then, with “perhaps” he acknowledges that it is in fact subjective. However, that subjectivity does not excuse us from using discernment in our own context.
@RyanHeffernon@desiringGod Backlash is not the only indicator, but where the truth is proclaimed, there will be backlash. “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.” Matthew 5:11
@Ameen_HGA@desiringGod Backlash alone does not mean you’re on target; it is one indicator of the truth being proclaimed. “Woe to you when all men speak well of you.”
Lk 6:26 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.”
Mt 5:11
