That's a logical argument and my statement isn't contradicting you. The majority of people of that time were uneducatet, they couldn't read or write, but they could recognize symbols, like today's logos (the logos of that time, you know them) so architecture, paintings, and other elements served that purpose to represent an entity that people fear and which of course isn't dumb. Most intelligent and knowledgeable people probably served the church and created the art. That’s why I stated we should stay away from being dumb (controlled, manipulated)
