"When BTS achieves something, they say the success belongs to Kpop.
When BTS refuses to participate in segregation, they say it is between Grammys and BTS.
No wonder they have yet to find the next BTS."
I agree, have you seen the 7 sets of balls our boys have?
black americans and black american artists have talked abt the grammys trying to force out of the main categories for years. africans including african artists have been complaining abt how these categories dont represent our music’s diversity for years. YOUUUU do not care.
grammys have always avoided awarding non-american artists.
they constantly introduce new asian, african and latin categories just to leave the biggest awards for their national artists.
when you value music based on where the singer is from, you’re not awarding talent anymore.
Back in February, when we dropped our #BTS cover story, RM dropped some hints that the Grammys weren't the band's top priority these days. Just today, the band announced via coordinated Instagram posts that they “have decided not to submit for Grammy consideration this year.”
“We hope our music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language. We thank Army and everyone who has always stood by us,” the message said.

except for tablo from epik high, no peer of bts in k-pop supported bts today. an industry critic said that only bts could show this backbone and that k-pop has to bow down to the grammys. while bts wanted to protect the industry's pride, we learned that the industry has no pride.
BTS pulling out of the GRAMMYS is a good reminder to all music-artists that those awards are not the endgame of your career.
Your career is defined by the people you gather together, not by the tiny trophy on your mantle.
hace 30 años, Tupac criticó a los Grammys por ser una industria controlada por gente desconectada del arte y del cambio. Años después, Namjoon hace referencia a él en 2.0: “Hit ’em up like (Tu)Pac. Hit ’em with the truth like Ra(kim)”
Call it parasocial but I love how many armys were hoping that bts won't participate & they decided not to. We are on the same page. BTS never needed them it was one of those things you x off the list. When it's a racist institution like this it's not worth it. Keep it! #grammys
Funny part is that the award does not guarantee relevance, money, or success. It’s just a feather in your cap.
Look at L*zzo, 4 Grannys in the bag including a SOTY, & still having a struggling career. I could name so many other artists who that award did nothing for.
adele is not american yet she beat beyonce in 2017. why didn’t they make a british grammy for her ? why did they make a traditional country category when beyonce won? “asian” is even not a genre and it’s not just limited to kpop. segregating music by ethnicity is fucking WEIRD
Just a reminder that what the GRAMMYs are doing affects many artists.
They also added another Latin category after Bad Bunny won AOTY and was nominated for SOTY and ROTY.
I don't think people fully understand the magnitude of this decision.
Some of the music industry's most respected producers, writers, engineers, and creatives worked on ARIRANG. A project built to the highest artistic standard. One producer even spoke publicly about hoping the album would receive Grammy recognition.
Then the Recording Academy introduced a category specifically for Asian pop.
And BTS chose not to submit.
Think about that. The biggest musical project of the year. One of the strongest commercial and artistic contenders. A project that could have competed across multiple major categories. It simply won't be in the race because the artists chose principle over prestige.
Moves like this don't happen often. When artists at BTS' level willingly walk away from the biggest stage in music, the conversation shifts because of what they refused to endorse.
I'm so proud of them for deciding they don't need the Grammys. Their reaction just proves that they are bitter & mad that BTS didn't appreciate being used for views. I hope their example will be followed by other artist who have dignity.
the best way to let out your frustrations with how #BTS are being treated is always by streaming their music btw. the way armys have always coped. BTS are here today cuz we didn't allow the hate to distract us from the goal. BTS impact is undeniable cuz we don't give up #ARIRANG
