Young Bermudians deserve more than a voice in the conversation; they deserve a seat at the table. 🇧🇲
That’s why we established Bermuda’s first Junior Cost of Living Commission, creating a platform for young people to share their lived experiences, challenge ideas and help develop practical solutions to the affordability pressures facing their generation.
Because the decisions we make today will shape the Bermuda they inherit tomorrow.
Policy should be built with young people, not just for them.

It was a pleasure to welcome representatives of the European Space Agency (ESA) to Bermuda. 🇧🇲🛰️
Building connections beyond our shores matters for Bermuda’s future.
Thank you for your visit. I look forward to our continued engagement.
It was good to be home at the church that helped raise me. 💙 Honoured to read Scripture as St. Philip AME celebrated 141 years of ministry and 100 at Harrington Sound. From Tucker’s Town to the Sound, a legacy of faith and resilience. 🙏🏾

Today, we honour the labour movement that fought to make a fairer Bermuda.
Better wages. Safer working conditions. Collective bargaining. Employment protections. Wage increases. Paid holidays. Sick leave. Workplace safety standards. Equal treatment at work.
These gains did not and do not simply happen.
Generations of Bermudian workers organised, marched, stood together and demanded better. We thank the elders of the early labour movement, participants in the BELCO strike and the 1981 General Strike. Today we remember the sacrifices of labour leaders such as Dr. E. F. Gordon, W. H. Thomas, and Ottiwell Simmons.
We benefit today because they were willing to fight yesterday.
Happy Labour Day, Bermuda. 🇧🇲
How Bermuda powers its future matters to every household and business.

Long before subsea cables, these waters connected people, communities and commerce. Today, that connection enters a new digital chapter.
Google’s Canoa will be the first subsea cable to directly connect Bermuda and the Dominican Republic, building on Nuvem and Sol, Google’s transatlantic subsea cables connecting Bermuda with the United States and Europe, as well as the expansion of the Bermuda Digital Exchange Port.
Google’s continued investment reflects growing confidence in Bermuda as a trusted digital gateway in the Atlantic.

The Progressive Labour Party recognises Bermuda’s longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship with the United States. The PLP Government will not pursue any course of action that jeopardises this vital relationship or Bermudians’ ability to travel to the United States.
Our interest in CARICOM is rooted in the new opportunities that trade and deeper regional cooperation could create for Bermuda. We will not be pressured into defending the status quo when viable solutions may exist to pressing challenges such as the cost of living, food security, access to goods and services, healthcare cooperation and economic resilience

The price on the shelf is the final step in a much longer journey.
The Cost of Living Commission Amendment (No. 2) Bill 2026 strengthens price transparency and helps us better understand the factors contributing to the prices we pay.
Follow the journey, from ship to shelf.
Shipping. Freight. Wholesale. Retail. The price you see can be the end of a much longer journey.
The Cost of Living Commission Amendment (No. 2) Bill 2026 strengthens price transparency across essential commodities and designated critical services.
The Cost of Living Commission will have stronger tools to examine pricing trends and improve visibility.
Better information helps us understand the pressures affecting prices and build the evidence for more targeted, long-term action.
Bermudians can play a role too. Keep an eye on the prices you pay. Review your receipts and bills. Compare where you can. Better information. Greater visibility. Stronger evidence.
Prices in Plain Sight. See. Know. Act.
Cabinet gained two new colleagues on Friday. Senator Ryan Robinson Perinchief was sworn in as Minister of National Security. Reverend Dr. Emily Gail Dill was sworn in as Minister of the Cabinet Office.
I'm happy to serve alongside both of them. Minister Dill brings deep experience in people and institutions at the exact moment public service reform demands it. Minister Perinchief brings legal training, policy discipline, and a decade of building young leaders through Future Leaders Bermuda.
He also takes something from me. Until Friday, I held the title of being the youngest member of Cabinet. That title now belongs to Minister Perinchief, and I hand it over proudly.
The decisions this Cabinet makes on energy, housing, safety, and our place in the region will shape Bermuda for the next thirty years. The people who will live longest with those decisions deserve seats at the table where they are made. This week I am in Saint Lucia with the Premier for the CARICOM Heads of Government Conference, doing work whose full value will be measured by the next generation. Serving alongside colleagues who belong to that generation keeps the work honest.
New leadership is here. Young leadership is here. The future of Bermuda is being anchored now, around this table, by people who intend to be present for it.
Bermuda's future is connected to the wider Caribbean community.
Becoming a full member of CARICOM is not about losing our identity. It is about strengthening Bermuda's voice, expanding opportunities, building resilience, and securing a stronger future through regional partnership.
As Bermuda considers this important step, we invite you to reflect on The Story of US and the reasons why full membership matters.

Every household and business in Bermuda depends on affordable, reliable electricity.
The Electricity Act amendments strengthen transparency, accountability, and public participation in decisions about our energy future, while preserving the independence of the Regulatory Authority and keeping technical decisions with experts.
I've shared more on why these reforms matter and how they support a more affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy future for Bermuda.

This week, Bermuda marked the landing of Google's NUVEM and SOL subsea cables at Annie’s Bay.
Together, they connect Europe and the United States with Bermuda as a strategic branch.
This investment strengthens resilience, supports jobs, and reinforces Bermuda’s role as a digital gateway.
I signed the first buoy, symbolising where global digital infrastructure anchors to Bermuda.
Connectivity is economic security.

Because here is the part of our story some would rather we forget. We are rooted in the Caribbean. There is no native Bermudian. We were all brought here.
They came from St. Kitts. They came from Jamaica, Barbados, Nevis and beyond. They stayed. They married. They raised Bermudian children. They helped write the Story of US.
My own family’s story runs through St. Kitts. When I talk about the Caribbean, I am talking about my grandparents’ people. So are many of you.
I wrote these words because I believe too many of us have forgotten that our story did not begin at the reef line.
When I think about Bermuda, I think about the people who came here with little, built lives, built families, and built a country. I think about the generations whose labour made this island what it is today.
The Caribbean is not foreign to us. It is in our names, our traditions, our churches, our music, and our families.
Whatever view you hold on CARICOM, I hope we can start from a shared truth: understanding where we come from helps us decide where we are going.
I choose a Bermuda that remembers its story. 🇧🇲.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has reconstituted Bermuda's Space and Satellite Policy Panel.
The space and satellite sectors are growing fast. Bermuda holds real regulatory and commercial advantages in this field. The Ministry will use them.
The panel guides Government policy across these emerging sectors. It maps where Bermuda competes, where it regulates, and where it builds. The work points toward a stronger economy and new pathways for Bermudians in technology and future-focused careers.

🎙️ It was a pleasure joining Colonel David Burch on his *new* talk show, Bermuda Speaks, on Magic 102.7.
For more than 25 years, Colonel Burch has represented the people of Bermuda as a Progressive Labour Party parliamentarian and has served in several senior Cabinet roles, including Minister of National Security and Minister of Public Works.
Our conversation focused on Bermuda’s potential pursuit of full membership in CARICOM and what that could mean for future generations. We discussed many of the questions and concerns raised throughout the public consultation process, including the fact that any membership costs must be considered in light of Bermuda not fully acceding to the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas. We also clarified that Bermuda would not participate in the free movement pillar of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
We reflected on the public feedback received during the consultation, which included views in favour of full membership, views against it, and many residents who remain undecided and are seeking additional information. I also noted that the forthcoming White Paper is being developed to address the questions raised during the consultation process and provide greater clarity on the implications of full membership. As this national conversation continues, responses to key issues and concerns will continue to be shared so that Bermudians can make informed decisions based on facts and evidence.
I was also pleased to hear former Premier Dr. Ewart Brown call into the programme and share his perspective on the importance of thinking beyond the immediate moment. As we consider Bermuda’s future, the question is not only where we are today, but where we want to be 10, 20, and 30 years from now.
The decisions we make today should position Bermuda to thrive in an increasingly connected and competitive world.

The public consultation on Bermuda’s pursuit of full CARICOM membership closes on May 31, 2026.
We’ve heard supportive, undecided, and opposing views. Every concern, including cost, immigration protections, and economic safeguards, will be addressed in the White Paper.
Bermuda will retain full control of its borders, work permits, and key economic protections.
If you haven’t yet participated, there is still time.
