I common trend I observed in my classmates' videos is that communication and all forms of writing will turn to online platforms where formal writing will remain a thing of the past.

Technology plays a large role in the show as the people still living in space use it in order to live and to communicate with the people on the ground. Later in the show, there is also a woman who was an intelligence emulator.
The show "The 100" is an example of pop culture that presents a version of "writing" the internet. It's set in a futuristic alternate world where people living in space come down to what was previously inhabitable Earth.

"Technology doesn't simply break social conventions- it introduces new possibilities for them" - Boyd
Although I agree with this, I believe these new possibilities have made people often choose online conversation over face to face ones since they are easier to do.

I try to always be alert when I use technology aimlessly for hours in a day. When Covid started off, I was using technology way too much so I decided to start silencing my phone and set it aside at a certain time every evening whenever I can.

Joe from the Netflix show “You” googles the name of the pretty blonde customer that walks into his shop and proceeds to find her Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and home address. This just shows how easy it is to get information on someone through the internet #315slides
I think that even tho we might be aware of bias in what we read we sometime choose to ignore it because it is exhausting to constantly check different sources that might be biased themselves. we in a way accepted to live in a fake reality #315fakenews
Since I’ve adopted the “always on lifestyle”, I try my best to take breaks from my phone. When I work or before I go to bed, I put my phone on do not disturb or airplane mode. This help to distract me from always being online. #315slides
So hard to trust what we are being told. I find every time I do research on something to prove it's truth, I just end up more confused. You can't even fully trust written reviews.
@BrynneWarner Same! I used social media to distract myself from what was going on when it all started but now I've learned how necessary it is to set aside time to disconnect. I find it really helpful to also set a time in the evening where I turn off my phone for the rest of the night.
@AspenMurray1 Very well said. In today's digital world we are constantly expected to be on and available all the time just because we have access to our online platforms but the truth is we need to disconnect and remember that time completely alone is extremely necessary.
I've been working harder at setting boundaries here. The messages can wait, and it's not the end of the world if I don't get back to people immediately. I don't owe them 24/7 access to me. I've had to learn how to prioritize myself over others in this specific regard. #315slides
@_auroracummings great point! This brings back a lot of points we've discussed throughout the semester in this course on how we express ourselves online. Makes me think back to our first assignment of creating a Twitter Bio and having to think of our APOS and identity.
I was really surprised at how simple it was to add to a Wikipedia page. I always knew that anyone was allowed to contribute but I didn't know it was so simple to do! I'm going to check the page in a couple of days and see if they left my added info!

@JamieHorowitz22 Yeah, I had the same experience and it has kind of conditioned me to never use it even when I'm told it's okay. I'm happy we looked at the pros of Wikipedia because I too now realize there's more to it than I previously thought.
(3) This connects to the idea of laziness we discussed last week. I believe it is less a matter of laziness and more the fact that people are hesitant to fact check when other sources may also be questionable.
(1) A major problem that stems from the fact that anyone can edit a Wiki page, is its lack of reliability. People are often hesitant to rely on the information found on Wiki pages since there is no certainty it is accurate.

(2) For this reason, many professors won't accept it as a reliable source when writing papers. The uncertainty of its accuracy contributes to the fear of being misinformed through online platforms. Additional research is suggested before crediting information found on Wiki.
