Mehdi Hasan on the Belfast attack,
"As far as we know this person was here legally as someone who was approved by the then Conservative government"
"He's from Sudan. Most people would agree people fleeing from Sudan are genuine refugees"
"Whatever your politics we can agree there is a genocide going on in Sudan"
"That doesn't excuse the horrific crime that he committed, obviously"
"But the idea that we suddenly reduce this to illegal immigration"
"And Elon Musk pushing this is absurd, because Musk was an immigrant to the Unites States"
"His own brother claimed that they were both illegal immigrants at one point"
"People exploiting this for political gain.. Making everything about immigration.. Like the murder of Henry Nowak"
"The person who killed Henry Nowak was born in Britain. His father was born in Britain. But that's been made an immigration story as well"
You voted against scrapping zero hour contracts.
You voted against banning fire and rehire.
You voted against day one sick pay for workers.
You said the minimum wage was too high for young people.
Reform politicians openly say they don't like trade unions.
You will always put the interests of your offshore crypto billionaire donors ahead of workers.
@mickyh01 Actually still think this lot are nowhere near as bad as the media paints them 🤣, need to improve tho. Foreign policy largely good (keeping out of Iran, closer ties to Europe and handling of orange man baby). Domestically needs big work and comms of positives isn’t good enough
Reform is now the party of workers.
Today I am inviting trade unions to apply for affiliation with Reform UK.
We also welcome union leaders to attend our national conference in September and engage in discussions about the policies of a future Reform government.
@mickyh01 Not really sure you can really blame Labour for a world economic crash 🤣, I know Labour made a mess in the 70s and unfortunately that gave rise to Thatcher. All really before my time though
@mickyh01 Police were gutted by Cameron and Osbourne mate. 14 years of Tory austerity has caused this, it is as much about the cause as the present. Not sure you can undo 14 years in just 2
@mickyh01 Austerity was the incorrect response to the 2008 crash, rest of Europe went differently. Police gutted so can’t do enough preventative policing for knife crime anymore. Hoping that given the mess Reform are making with the councils people will see through it
@mickyh01 All about exploitation of young people though because they’re “cheaper labour.” I get disillusionment with the main two parties mate but I have no clue why folks are turning to Reform - they’re even more in the pockets of the elite who see them as a route to massive tax breaks
We're at the point where the Telegraph are literally making up quotes.
I said when veg is sold for pennies in supermarkets, it's a sign someone's not being paid properly.
Farmers being paid a pittance for their produce.
Workers on less than a living wage in supermarkets.
Rupert Lowe, a 68 year old, privately educated, former investment banker, backed by the world's richest man, is trying to convince you he's not the establishment.
Henry Nowak’s father said the following earlier:
“We want to use Henry’s heartbreaking story to make change for the better. We do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred or tension. We want his story to help make our streets safer for everyone.“
These are his family’s wishes. They should be respected by all.
Nigel Farage registered ‘absent’ from the last 77 votes in Parliament
Official Parliamentary figures reveal that Reform leader Nigel Farage hasn't bothered to vote for anything in the last 11 weeks...
