[Yankees Stats @ChrisCoop_]

Offense has been so bad this season in the playoffs that the 2026 Yankees are currently 3rd out of all playoff teams in OPS lol

1. Brewers, .736 OPS
2. Guardians, .692 OPS
3. Yankees, .680 OPS
4. Phillies, .664 OPS
5. Padres, .651 OPS
.
.
.
8. Rays, .600 OPS
9. Dodgers, .591 OPS
.
.
.
12. Cubs, .374 OPS

Let's talk about how crazy this all is for just a second

🔻The Cubs offense was ridiculously good all season

1st in wRC+ (114)
1st in OPS (.767)
6th in AVG
2nd in OBP
1st in SLG
3rd in HRs
11th in SBs
6th in Contact%
4th lowest Chase%
1st in RE24 (basically "situational hitting")

Led the 2nd half, as well, with:
1st in wRC+ (121)
1st in HRs
3rd in AVG / 2nd in OBP / 1st in SLG

They were deep, had more than 10 guys above average in wRC+ on the roster, and could beat you in a variety of ways with the long ball or contact.

All of that, yet were knocked out of their post season run with a .374 OPS. Despite being 1st in RE24, they had the most negative "clutch" value, meaning their drop off in high leverage was highest in the 2nd half by a lot and was 2nd highest on the season .

🔻The Dodgers and Rays, who were both favorites to win their respective LCS series, both sit <= .600 OPS.

The Dodgers were 2nd in the Cubs in practically everything listed...rank well above the rest of the pack with Chicago in wRC+ (111), 3rd in AVG, 3rd in OBP, 2nd in SLG, 8th in HRs, make good contact, and have 4th lowest K%.

The Rays were tied 5th in wRC+ with a 104 on the season and have been a pretty steady high floor offensive team all season.

Despite both, they currently sit with <= .600 OPS in the playoffs and are basically relying on pitching, defense, and sparse timely hits to get through their bracket.

🔻The Yankees were 1-hit in game 1 of the ALDS and combined for fewer hits in the entire series than the team that ranked 22nd in wRC+ on the season had against the Rays ace at Tampa in only one game.

Craziness!

Air Conditioning is arguably the greatest invention of all time. In no particular order, A/C, the tv remote, the internet, and twitter. I will not let my good friend Central Air be slandered like this!
