#Jets defensive tackle Harrison Phillips was asked by @Al_Iannazzone what he thinks of the team trying to build a foundation & what needs to happen to truly turn things around.
A really candid, insightful response here from Phillips (It’s worth a listen):
We’ll never forget the lives we lost on September 11, 2001. Let’s continue to honor their memories, and the courage of our first responders who put themselves in harm’s way.
In the last few years we've seen:
- The plot to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer
- The Storming of the Capitol and pipe bombs left at the RNC and DNC
- The break-in to kidnap Nancy Pelosi and the brutal on Paul Pelosi
- Multiple assassination attempts against Trump
- The assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and the shooting of on State Senator John Hoffman and his wife
- Luigi Mangione's assassination of Brian Thompson
- The assassination of Charlie Kirk
Political violence is contagious. It is spreading. It is not confined to one side or belief system. It should terrify us all.
The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in it without fear of violence. Political violence is always an attack against us all. You have to be so blind not to see that.
The Jets just beat themselves in today’s season opener. We had opportunities to put the game away but we didn’t follow through. You figure ya score 32 points, you’re supposed to win. So it’s a tough loss to take. Bottom line is - defense gave up too many points.
At this point, the Knicks trying to win a chip is like the Cubs or Red Sox breaking the curse. 50 yr drought but for some reason ppl keep saying “act like you been there.” If you didn’t suffer the last 25 yrs you wouldn’t get it. So fuck off this run is for Knicks fans, not you
I know people out there are criticizing Knicks fans for over-celebrating just making it to the Eastern Conference Finals but with all due respect, you don't get it.
It has been 25 years since they got this far, which has been spent watching some of the worst basketball anyone has ever had to endure. The jokes. The ridicule. The draft lottery was the highlight of most seasons, at least the ones where they didn't foolishly trade away their first round pick, which was more often than anyone liked.
I'm not going to run through all embarrassing moments, bad GM's, coaches and players. There's not enough bandwidth on the internet. Trust me, it was even worse than the records indicated.
The Knicks didn't just get to the Eastern Conference Finals tonight. They upset the number two seed. Which was Boston. And last year's champion. They have HOME COURT ADVANTAGE in the ECF. Let them enjoy this.
There's more work to do. The fan base is not satisfied. Most of us are already thinking about Indiana.
And so is this coach and team.
Here's a fact: the Knicks have a real chance, for the first time in a generation, to win an NBA Championship. They haven't won one of those in more than HALF A CENTURY. Everyone is enjoying that hope right now before the stress of having to beat the Pacers kicks in.
Let the fans cook. They earned this for one night.
Go Knicks!
ANDOR is without question to me the story of our time. It’s, sadly and urgently, the story of all time. But it’s the story of our time and if you’re not watching it because you think Star Wars is for kids/not for you then you’re missing something extremely vital and impactful.
Just think of all the celebrity Democrats last year who tore Joe Biden down day after day after pounding day with their essays, and op ed's, and interviews and who have remained completely silent against Trump.
They fought harder against Joe Biden than they have Donald Trump.

"I used to lead the league in technicals every year, and you're actually giving me a present?"
The refs gifted Hubie Brown with the game ball for his final broadcast, and Hubie had to heckle them one last time 🤣 ❤️
