No poetry today, just a record of a weekend lived well. On Friday lunchtime, spontaneously decided to host a barbeque on Sunday.
Messaged friends, did a big Tesco run, cleaned the house and set the garden in order, prepped dishes, tested out the new barbie.
Greeted guests, plied them with snacks and booze, joked and bantered and swapped anecdotes. Grappled with the vents till the coals were roaring hot.
Filled everyone with chicken and salad and fancy crisps and homemade dips and beer and cider and juice and ice cream and fruit, till we were all bursting and red faced and competing for the hammock.
Let everyone go with a hug and some leftovers, then played ukulele outside with the stragglers till it got just cool enough to give us goose pimples.
Housemate did most of the cleanup, so watched a silly thriller with the cats and wallowed happily in contentment.
