A bottom tab bar on its own is a solved problem. So is a hamburger drawer. Doing both at once (one nested in the other) is where it gets interesting.

We saw @maazscript building in public and asked him to show how to nest a drawer around a tab navigator with Expo Router, no gesture fights, no tab state resetting.

Digital “purchases” suck.

With news that Sony PlayStation owners will be losing access to hundreds of “purchased” movies, now is a good time to remember that almost all “purchased” video games can be ripped away from you at a moment’s notice.

Unless you own a physical copy of the game… and that game does not require verification on any server… then you WILL lose access to it at some point.

Maybe the game company will simply take away your access.

Or maybe the game company (or game store) will shut down completely. Because no company lasts forever.

Either way, enjoy your games now. Because you never know when you’ll lose them.

And definitely don’t plan on being able to play those games with your grandkids.

You know, I think AI development is wrong. I mean, it is great, but we are missing the point. AI development should be where anyone can pick up a Mac and a PC and describe what they want and get a fully featured App that uses the latest SDKs and APIs. Describe Shortcut is probably the best step in the right direction for that.

The industry is built for big companies. Real audits run thousands. It never adapted to serve indie devs, so the people building most software get priced out of accessibility entirely.

Back in 2021 I launched Taylor's Teardowns to help. And now AI is making it worse, everyone's shipping apps that lock blind people out.

I'm a blind developer, eight years in accessibility, and here's where the industry actually stands in 2026.

It priced out the people who need it most. Audits run 2,500 to 10,000 dollars, out of reach for small devs, so they do nothing. Meanwhile lawsuits jumped 37 percent, and the people who can't afford a 5k audit are getting 15k demand letters. That's backwards.

Then AI made it worse. It produces inaccessible code by default. AI is not your accessibility expert.

Opened an app today and found an accessibility issue in five seconds. Screen full of emojis and images, none hidden from VoiceOver. So it reads pure noise, and buttons get named after decorations. I tap one with no clue what it does. Common in iOS, and easy to fix.
