@airfrance lost my bag on a snowboard trip and owes me a bunch of money. Instead of working on paying me they are very insistent on details like signatures “matching” on forms. Great at paperwork apparently — terrible at keeping track of bags or basic integrity.
I'm reasonably confident when people study US History 100 years from now there will be a focus on the extreme influence we allowed industrialists to have in our politics.
@SeanLyng Yes, “voting with money” falls over as a metaphor when the amounts people bet have different significance to the participants. That makes sense to me.
@SeanLyng It's been fascinating the rapid closing of those prediction markets and the fall of DJT stock. Is there any signal in the noise? I can't tell if I should feel encouragement or if people are just realizing that taking a 35/65 odds bet in a 50/50 race is smart expected value.
@SeanLyng Pretty sure there are several michelin star caliper chefs that would disagree with you on the chicken score, not that your opinion isn't valid as your own.
@SeanLyng I believe in this in the general case for sure but I'm not sure it could extend to Trump if I'm being 100% honest. Jan 6 and using the phrase "china virus" over and over again to promote racism toward asian people are front of mind.
@SeanLyng ETH and SOL both seem risky to me - ETH because it seems like its scaling strategy is overly complicated for users , SOL because it crashes and needs to be "restarted". Neither of these networks seems ready today to be Visa style rails for banks.
@SeanLyng BTC is a really simple asset to understand and it's already fulfilled it's promise if you believe its positioning as just a digital value store.
ETH/SOL/X - you have to first accept that any digital asset can have value, like BTC, AND you have to believe in unproven tech.
@SeanLyng Apparently a JD Vance talking point is that Imane Khelif is 'not a biological woman', which no one else has ever alleged to my knowledge. If the only thing governing male vs. female is T levels then conversely many men are not men according to JD Vance.
@SeanLyng Below a certain age it seems like privacy concerns just aren't a thing is my experience. It's strange to me that people can't extrapolate from the NFL stadium to a Chinese-style police state with social credits.
@SeanLyng Regardless of which it is, this issue was dealt with extremely poorly by the governing body - she no question has lived a life since birth as a woman. If there is any legitimate issue it should have been dealt with privately, definitively, and ideally prior to the Olympics.
@SeanLyng I haven't really followed the story. It seems like the Algerian boxer just has an elevated T level, but it wasn't clear in a bit of reading if it was in a biological passport sense (relative to her own baseline), or if it was just relative to some XX average range.
