@anactualwalnut This is a great question. It completely depends on where you live! They probably have a range. The absolute oldest rocks on Earth are around 4 billion years old, but more likely they’re somewhere between 500 and 50 million. You should check out a geologic map online for your area

It’s just so silly and sweet and ominous in the way that all geologists are. It’s been on the wall for my professor’s entire career. She would’ve been a geologist when there were so so few women geologists. The Mount Holyoke geology department is so special and we haven’t changed
