A shocking case involving a 19-year-old accused, Rahul Meena, has raised serious concerns. Complaints were reportedly filed in both Rajasthan and Delhi. After an earlier case in Alwar, he allegedly fled to Delhi, where he had previously worked in a house in the Amar Colony area.

According to reports, he used his familiarity with the house and routine to enter early in the morning. Later, a 22-year-old woman, preparing for UPSC, was found dead, with evidence suggesting both murder and sexual assault. Accused was subsequently arrested from Dwarka, and police have stated that there is substantial evidence against him.

Cases like this raise difficult but necessary questions about safety, justice, and deterrence. When crimes are premeditated and involve such brutality, people naturally question whether the punishment system is strong enough to prevent future crimes.

The larger issue is not just one case, but the sense of safety for millions of women. Justice must be swift, fair, and strong enough to build real confidence in the system.

The question is not political. It is fundamental. How do we ensure that such crimes are prevented, and that justice delivers both accountability and deterrence?
