@bundeskanzler Preise sind Informationssignale. Die Bundesregierung antwortet: ein Signal pro Tag und Problem gelöst! Als würde man dem Fieberthermometer verbieten, öfter als einmal täglich zu steigen.
Germany's medical cannabis market nearly tripled in imported volume last year, but the average price per gram dropped significantly.
Rapid market growth + price compression = market consolidation?
Shared my take with @SZ on the dynamics at play:

@JoeCool_15@business The import number is fine but the €2B is mathematically impossible unless you assume pretty much all imports are sold and the average price per gram is over €10. Both of which are unrealistic with prices starting at just over €3 and a big part of imports never gets sold.

@420Odysseus Timetable likely hasn’t changed and remains uncertain. But this looks like a deliberate and fairly strong signal from CDU/CSU that they intend to "soften" the bill during the parliamentary process.
Following a Bundestag expert hearing, the CDU/CSU is signaling a potential retreat from its proposed hardline restrictions on the Medical Cannabis Act, now considering targeted "fine-tuning" of regulations instead of the broad bans originally intended.

While US rescheduling dominates the headlines today, the UAE government has issued a Federal Decree-Law regulating industrial and medical uses of hemp with up to 0.3% THC.

Germany’s Bundesrat has adopted its position on the MedCanG. It backs tighter rules on pricing, advertising and foreign prescriptions for medical cannabis. Mail-order and online-prescription exceptions proposed by Thuringia were rejected. The bill now moves to the Bundestag.
📈 Germany sets another medical cannabis import record in Q3 2025: 56.9 metric tonnes, a 19 percent increase vs Q2 2025 (47.7 tonnes).
• Twelve-month rolling total (Q4 2024 to Q3 2025): 175 tonnes.
• Full-year 2025 projection: 200+ tonnes.
The German Bundesrat Health Committee has issued recommendations on the Medical Cannabis Act (MedCanG):
– No foreign prescriptions
– Binding price regulation
– Advertising ban
– Shipping ban as offense
Bundesrat vote on Nov 21. Outcome uncertain.

@dave_calgary@420Odysseus There's still no Pillar 2 legislation, nor any recent sign of progress toward it. All applications for recreational pilot projects under Pillar 1 that have received government feedback which is public have been rejected so far. Example:

Next stop: Parliament — where changes are not just possible but widely expected.

🇩🇪 Germany has just notified the EU of a draft law to tighten its Medical Cannabis Act (MedCanG) — TRIS No. 2025/0552/DE.
Still just a Health Ministry proposal, but Cabinet approval could come this week. Then the usual parliamentary process.

Germany: Frankfurt's plans for a pilot program to sell cannabis to adults have been rejected by the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BMLEH). The city has filed an appeal. Sanity Group has also appealed the rejection.
