@skiddzzo@SmoughTown@HensDBD Surely the new anti tunnel doesn't punish the killer for playing too well but rather stops them taking a shortcut to save time doing more chases. You can approach this from different angles. Also sure, but maps don't have those issues anymore but I don't think it needs removing.
@skiddzzo@SmoughTown@HensDBD False equivalencies are easy how about "the killer is struggling to catch this survivor lets give them free haste for playing badly". To be clear I understand why bloodlust exists and I'm not saying it shouldn't but arguments like this are 100% pointless.
@PallyStream@SmoughTown@HensDBD Not saying that approach to discussions will go away but it doesn't mean we all have to or even are approaching discussions that way. I personally would prefer a killer meta where tunneling isn't hard meta as more mixed chase engagement = good imo.
@PallyStream@SmoughTown@HensDBD Sure and I think we should look at things on both sides that are unfun and make changes to them. This isn't a us vs them discussion for me I play both sides basically 50/50. I just think that tunneling is unfun when it's meta (for both sides).
@buffthenurse@HensDBD Spouting abuse because you disagree is wild. Different people have different opinions. Doesn't mean one is better or worse and doesn't mean their opinion is better or worse. Most people aren't pros. Yes people should strive to get better - but that doesn't make it good gameplay.
@SujiDBD@HensDBD@SmoughTown To be clear I was a fan of the unique hook bonuses from the old PTB. I didn't like that it wasn't as useful for low mobility killers but basekit regression as a incentive for unique hooking seemed like a good idea to me. I think killers relying on gen regression is also dumb.
@llithospheree@HensDBD@SmoughTown They do work to shift the meta away from hard tunneling though. I do agree though that other changes would also be good and medkits are super strong.
@Not_Purgatory@SmoughTown@HensDBD Sure but tunneling someone in the lobby is still going to be the most effective strategy even if it's not you. I agree having some base level of skill is important but doesn't change that OTR/DS would always help and this doesn't change tunneling being unfun for a lot of players.
@SaiyajinJKR@DalexK0rn@HensDBD I do agree with this take and it's why when I was learning the game I spent a large amount of time focusing on chase uptime (even if it's wasn't always optimal) but not all players are built like this and I still think tunneling is unfun for newer/average players.
@_FantasticMrFox@HensDBD@SmoughTown I think fixing matchmaking in this game is near to impossible due to balance. If you make it too strict some players only see S tiers but too weak and you get what we have now. Not saying it cannot be refined but I remain skeptical much will change though hope I'm wrong.
@SmoughTown@HensDBD I think you are missing the point - not everyone will be a top tier player by the very nature of how games work. This is more about how DBD relies way too much on perks to solve unfun mechanics (for most average players) like tunneling.
@retro_moose@Simp1y_Sa1ty_@HensDBD I agree on your last point. Balance is all over the place and it doesn't help. As for the other stuff I think you have some interesting ideas - I just think they should try things and doing by doing so shift the meta. It keeps things fresh and adjustments can always be made.
@retro_moose@Simp1y_Sa1ty_@HensDBD Yes I liked the basekit gen kick buff for unique hooks last iteration though disliked how it hurt lower mobility killers. A basekit pain res would fix that though so I think it could be a good option. I think killers relying on gen regression is also dumb and dislike it too.
@HensDBD@SmoughTown The issue to me is that anti tunnel is so good against the meta strategy and will basically always offer value so will inflate MMR. But removing them promotes an unfun strategy for most players. So IMO making them basekit is not a bad solution. Meta changes keep things fresh too.
@SmoughTown@HensDBD Yes but we are talking about unfun gameplay design here IMO. It's like saying noob tubes in old MW2 were fair because you could counter them and you need to get better. It's not like moving the meta away from tunneling and anti tunnel perks is a substitute for getting better.
@SmoughTown@HensDBD I think you are missing the point - not everyone will be a top tier player by the very nature of how games work. This is more about how DBD relies way too much on perks to solve unfun mechanics (for most average players) like tunneling.
@Simp1y_Sa1ty_@HensDBD Sure but my opinion is perks exist to spice up gameplay. Currently OTR/DS are free value against one of the best strategies and so will always be hard meta. Removing them hard enforces (what I believe to be a unfun strategy) so make them partly basekit and balance around it.
