for decades, the web has had a status code for payment: 402 – payment required.
unlike 404 or 403, it never had a standard way to actually execute the payment, it was a placeholder for a capability the internet never implemented.
x402 changes that.
x402 is an emerging payments standard built on HTTP 402 that enables autonomous, internet-native payments directly within web request flows.
instead of redirecting users to checkout pages or layering billing systems on top, x402 makes payment part of the protocol itself.
the flow is simple:
- a client or ai agent requests a resource.
- the server responds with 402 & structured payment requirements.
- the client submits payment.
- the server verifies settlement and returns the resource.
payment and access happen in a single automated lifecycle.
this model is built for agentic commerce, where ai systems discover services, evaluate pricing, and transact autonomously, subscriptions and api keys were designed for humans. agents need something programmable, granular, and instant.
on @AlgoFoundation, x402 is implemented as a production-ready payment flow.
algorand’s:
- low transaction fees
- instant, deterministic finality
- predictable performance under load
- native atomic transaction grouping
- stablecoin support
allow HTTP payment requests to pair with on-chain settlement without breaking synchronous request–response patterns.
that combination makes micropayments viable and keeps verification inside real-time api calls, which is critical for high-frequency, machine-to-machine traffic.
the architecture stays modular:
- merchant defines pricing and access rules.
- resource server protects endpoints and returns 402 when payment is required.
- facilitator verifies settlement and enforces policies
this separation keeps payment logic abstracted while enabling true pay-per-use pricing for apis, data, compute, and digital services.
x402 doesn’t replace the web, it completes it. HTTP always had a word for payment.
now it has a standard way to execute it and on algorand, it works at scale.

it’s a place to experiment, collaborate, and ship something meaningful.
whether you’re a student, a builder, a founder, or just curious about web3
this is your sign to jump in 👇
this is a super cool tool built by @gabrielkuettel, now your ai can build, deploy and run full stack algorand dapps with just one command.
just install & run `vibekit init` in the terminal to run @getvibekit in your IDE.
it's super simple to use with your existing tools.
it was awesome attending @Algo_Bharat hack series 3.0 kick off.
@anilk_kakani & @niikkhhiil ser told about the focus of this hack series and how a project can become a product over the time.
event nicely done with @mdmudassir0143 ser, more such meetups to come!
really excited for @AlgoFoundation hack series 3.0 kickoff in new delhi at 4th feb.
join us guys for an amazing evening with @anilk_kakani sir.

Introducing the first runner-up…
AlgoXpress’s Algo Intent, an AI-powered layer that translates plain English commands into on-chain actions on Algorand. Users can send tokens or swap assets by simply typing their instructions. The system integrates with web, mobile, and WhatsApp to make blockchain interactions as simple as sending a message.

With this win our goal of making crypto as easy as chatting just increased 10 folds with @algointent.
Algo Intent converts the user's command from plain English to executable onchain actions.
Directly through their most familiar app like whatsapp or a webapp.
Thanks for having us!
Guess what happened?
@algointent won 2nd place in @Algo_Bharat Hack Series 2025.
We are continuously building towards the future where user won't even need to know if it's web3 in the backend.
We are building the only Intent Layer @AlgoFoundation would ever need.
