🚨Update on Governance Period 14 Rewards Structure🚨

Following discussions on the Algorand Forum about the proposed GP14 TDR plans, the DeFi Committee—comprising members from the largest DeFi protocols by TVL—met today (January 3, 2025) to determine the best path forward.

The Committee decided by majority vote to redirect the 5M TDR to the DeFi Governance Rewards.

As a result, the final rewards structure for Governance Period 14 is as follows:

• 10M ALGO distributed as General Governance Rewards
• 10M ALGO distributed as DeFi Rewards

With this change, the GP14 TDR Spend Plans proposed on the Algorand Forum are superseded and will not be implemented.

All other parameters of GP14 remain unchanged, and registration for participation is open until January 14, 2025, at 4 PM UTC.

Relay nodes will soon become completely optional, as Algorand is transitioning from a hub-and-spoke model to a P2P gossip network, meaning that communication between participation nodes (which anyone can easily run) will become possible!

Don't sleep on it, this is a game changer.

What excuse will people have to say $ALGO is centralized? NONE!

#Algorand is going to be one of the most decentralized chains in the coming months, and the incentivization of consensus will also allow for better distribution of the stake.

#ALGO peeps below is update on some statistics you should all know in anticipation of next bull-run, which IMO is likely to happen H1 next year due to MiCA as well as $BTC halving.

$ALGO total supply 10BN
$ALGO circulating supply 7.8BN
$ALGO burned (2019 Buyback) 29.5M
$ALGO used in tx fees so far 1.4M
$ALGO in-use* 25M+
*(in-use algo, is algo not available for sale as it's needed to maintain ASAs/NFTs/NFDs/wallets/SCs, and with this is effectively taken out of circulation)

As we all know, @AlgoFoundation has been frontloading $ALGO distribution... so with arguably worst of $ALGO token distribution inflation behind us we should be entering extremely low yearly inflation of c. 2.8% until 2030 when last algo will be distributed.

2.8% yearly inflation is likely to be even lower as we see all of the real-life projects such as {@travelx__ (note 60 more airlines are onboarding), @PlanetWatchsas, @HesabPay_, @opulousapp, Bank of Italy (EUR 250bn sureties bonds), India healthcare NFT record keeping, etc. etc. etc.} start consuming more $ALGO with increased transactions.
Also don't forget algo in-use will increase significantly, meaning more algo will be taken out of circulation.

True, there has been plenty things to be annoyed with when it comes to #ALGO (see my tweets), on the other hand there are lot of positives...
