@Ch_JesusChrist@AP The church could avoid many of its sex abuse scandals by requiring universal background checks for those that work with children and youth, including bishops. It's routine for other churches. It's a no brainer. Prioritize the victims, people.
@UTDemLttrDaySnt @smbrnsn @Ch_JesusChrist The SL Tribune reported that there are no Democrats. Not sure about people of color--all they provide on their website is a list of the board members.
I just don’t understand people who want our country to be Christian but don’t want our country to do Christian things.
Like care for the sick, feed the poor, take in the refugee, and love the marginalized.
@LDSCultureNerd @heathersdesk I hate this expectation on the members too. If I'm going to go to all the trouble to make someone dinner, I'd prefer to eat it with them and get to know them. It takes multiple interactions with any given missionary for most members to trust them, so it's self-defeating.
Not only should Trump be prosecuted for his alleged crimes, but Section 3 of the 14th Amendment bars anyone from holding office who has “engaged in insurrection” against the United States of America.
He should also be disqualified from running for president.
@Daniel_Zappala@tuulijee Agreed. If the office of belonging won't do this, your friend should definitely bring it to the Department Head's attention. If nothing happens there, take it to the Dean. It would help to have the office of belonging copied on all the emails. These ppl control raises.
@SISTASinZION I don't get why we talk about how we don't wear crosses. What's the point? Our church members wore crosses until the early 1900s. Feels like one person's tastes became church "policy" that keeps being handed down
@GMillerJr I used to feel the same confusion, but it's harder for me now. Most is uplifting but some bad talks are used as eternal ammo to harass LGBTQ and other non-mainstream ppl and to judge others. More stone-throwing in conference than I'd like, which legitimizes members stone-throwing
The documentary LuLaRich is out on Amazon Prime today, and you may see a familiar face in it (hi). For me, the most interesting part of the LuLaRoe story is the place where two American aspirations collide: capitalist consumerism & white female domesticity

"We are being exploited. We asked for an explanation as to why are we being exploited. We asked for a timeline of if and when we can expect to be exploited no longer. We have not received a response."

This film is released today. But because Disney kowtows to Beijing, and because Liu Yifei openly and proudly endorses police brutality in Hong Kong, I urge everyone who believes in human rights to #BoycottMulan.
More than thousand HKers sing Les Miserables' 'Do you hear the people sing?' at HK international airport with their calls for free election and democracy. Here is the Ground Zero in the war against authoritarian rule. That's the reason for us never surrender.
