AN INDEPENDENT VOICE reporting from Iran is the victim of a “hit job” in today’s UK Guardian.

British-Iranian woman Bushrah Shaihk (@Bushra1Shaikh ) used X to show Iran as a modern, sophisticated community—in contrast to the medieval hellhole image preferred by US President Donald Trump.

But the British newspaper attacks her in a news report today. It quotes what it claims is “an Iranian factchecking organization” to condemn her for “taking part in two press tours organized by IRIB World Service, the international arm of Iran’s state broadcaster.”

WHAT THEY'RE NOT TELLING READERS

But here’s the twist.

The Guardian admits it has zero proof she was paid for this. “It is unclear whether Shaikh and others covered their own expenses or were paid to do the trip,” the paper says.

And more importantly, the organization the Guardian quotes to attack her is not Iranian.

It is a western political body with a history of getting finance directly from North American government sources for weaponizing human rights against critics of the west—and that fact is omitted from the news outlet’s coverage.

STORY UPSIDE DOWN

In other words, the story is upside down.

The paper implies that Miss Shaihk is financed to push a political view, with no evidence.

But the truth is that her critics are financed to push a political view, with plenty of evidence.

This is a good example of how the western mainstream media flips reality to mislead audiences.

The attack on Bushrah Shaihk comes from “an Iranian factchecking organization”, the paper claims.

But it doesn’t. It comes from Factnameh, a unit of ASL19, a North American body that has taken government cash to weaponize human rights to demonize rivals or competitors of western supremacy.

DARK PAST

Instant history: Remember the so-called “Arab spring”, which even the New York Times admits was led by the CIA and associated bodies to plant western-friendly leaders?

In that period, 2010 onwards, US-financed regime change groups and their funding partners started dangling cash in front of people who would “advance US interests” against countries targeted by the US State Department: Russia, China, and Iran.

“Suddenly, the US, Canada, and private donors were offering tens of millions of dollars in grant money for anyone who could build digital tools and give Iranians a reliable way to access them,” said a report in The Verge about the founding of ASL19 in Toronto.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT

ASL19 became active as one of a number of western groups that provided technology to enable anti-government activists overseas (including in Hong Kong) to avoid law enforcement. (Such activities would be illegal if foreign groups tried it in the US, Canada, or other western countries.)

But ASL19 soon gained a terrible reputation for internal strife, with claims of sexual harassment and other bad behavior by management. Its founder appeared in court on charges of sexual assault and false imprisonment in 2018.

That individual left the company—but staff complained that other managers knew about the problems, which had continued for years. They remained in charge, and continued the mission to advance western interests against the long-suffering, much-sanctioned Iranian people.

MANY CASES

For unclear reasons, many high profile people who weaponize human rights against competitors of the United States end up accused of sexual harassment from their work colleagues and contacts.

Examples include critic of Hong Kong Nathan Law, critic of China Enes Kanter Freedom, the leaders of the NED-funded Uyghur campaign groups in Washington DC, Nury Turkel and Dolkan Isa; and many others.

Sociologists note that human rights groups often attract young female staff -- but tend to be led by older men.

In all the above cases, western mainstream media maintains a strict news blackout on the topic.
