The ongoing rains have caused great human suffering and immense damage to infrastructure.

Today, I accompanied H.E Deputy President @rigathi and my colleagues @HonAdenDuale (Defence) and Davis Chirchir (Energy) to visit families displaced by floods at Hyuga Primary School in Garissa Town.

We also assessed the Tana River Bridge, which perennially floods whenever it rains and hinders transport on the major highway.

The Government will do everything in its power to lessen the pain of those who have lost loved ones and those displaced by floods, as we seek a lasting solution to flood-prone infrastructure such as the Garissa Bridge.

In the meantime, the Government urges Kenyans to remain vigilant, vacate flood-prone areas, desist from crossing flooded rivers, and avoid night travel unless extremely necessary.
