As much as a lot of people are complaining about it, by the law that Cubarsí foul was sadly a red card. I know it looks really unfair, because he clearly tried to avoid the contact, which makes it hard to blame him.

It was just an unfortunate situation and a dirty move from Simeone, but the law still says it’s a red, even if it’s accidental, because intent is irrelevant in a DOGSO situation.

There were other questionable decisions by the ref like the potential penalty in the goal-kick or the second yellow not given to Koke, but for this action specifically problem wasn’t the referee or VAR, it’s the law itself.
