32 year-old male 4 months s/p L shoulder SLAP repair wants to know when he can go back to playing tennis recreationally. He’s R hand dominant and hasn’t tried anything plyometric or impact-heavy since sx. What’s a realistic expectation?
14 y/o pt presents to PT w/ lumbar muscle strain from jumping to touch basketball rim. Pt’s dad wants to know exactly when pt will be back to competitive tennis. Important to educate parents about addressing things in the acute phase appropriately so they do not become chronic!
Pt is a 33 y/o male s/p MVA with subsequent painful and decreased cervical and shoulder AROM. Came in yesterday for follow-up with c/o unsteadiness and feeling of unsmoothness with cervical motion. Time to check head-neck awareness, neck movement control and postural stability!
35 year-old female reports to PT 3 months s/p lateral tibial plateau fx. Upon eval, pt has had medial knee pain (never lateral) and reports increased pain with glute dominant vs quad dominant step down. Any ideas why this isn’t fitting the expected??
82 y/o pt coming to PT for R knee pain and balance/general strengthening. Pt admits he is confused about what the purpose of a lot of the therex is. Gave pt detailed description and practical application of each exercise, and pt seems much more aware of why they are important 👍🏾
Pt comes in for re-eval w/ c/o neck pain, back pain, TMD, occasional hip pain and intermittent tennis elbow 😱 Chose to work on the neck pain first as pt tended to focus on that area in subjective, and pt left satisfied! First thing’s first, pt buy-in 👍
Pt w/ acute hx of glute pain found to have dysfunctional SIJ position and mobility. Pt instructed in exercises to correct SI position, and after performing was confused why gait still hurt. Important to educate pt’s about realistic expectations & timelines of tissue healing!
32 y/o s/p torn L lateral knee retinaculum and distal vastus lateralis 1 mo ago, c/o instability. Obj: resting knee hyperextended posture, ⬇️ L hip MMT, ⬇️ hamstring flexibility. HEP: supine/sidelying glute strengthening, hamstring stretch & TA isometric holds 👍🏾
