Around this time of year I will start to repeat the basics of crypto price action so people become more familiar with the volatility.

Crypto is manipulated in the following standard pattern movements. Any variation to this is attributed to spot buying and selling which will be easily corrected back to the strategy by the exchange algorithms, but this is how the exchange "moves" the price, to maximize their profits by eliminating as many leverage traders as possible. (gamblers)

On the way up (diagram 1):

The price will floor at A, spot bought to B, then manipulated ("retraced") 50% to C by the exchange, and so on. Usually 3 movements, sometimes 4. This 50% pullback makes it difficult (almost impossible) for high leverage long traders to profit. Once the micro movements are complete, a ceiling is found and the exchange will pull back the price 50% of the entire movement, in this diagram, H to I, a 50% retrace of A to H. This will "flush" majority of those leverage traders that survived the micro movements on the way up. Then the process repeats. This is why the charts look the way they do. Once this macro 50% retrace is done the price will be quickly retraced back to the ceiling to minimize the new long traders from entering again. This is how the exchange maximizes their profits, and minimized there exposure to open interest.

If there is too much remaining leverage in the movement the exchange will do some typical retail patterns to "shake out" the leverage traders, most typical is the reverse head and shoulders in the third diagram.

On the way down (diagram 2) - same in reverse to limit short trader exposure.

There is very little in the charts not controlled by the exchange, which is not regulated in any way.

I urge you to backtest this. measure every move, work out the 50% correction and watch hot he price will always ultimately find its way there. Now use this in your trading strategy!
