I believe incorporating social media in the classroom can help decrease online hate speech and bullying! If individuals learn from a young age the impacts bullying/hate speech can have they may be less likely to take part in it. Being aware of consequences is crucial! #EDUC307
@stphlaedu So true! For me, picking up my phone and scrolling through Instagram or checking snapchat has become such a habit, I barely notice that im doing it! #EDUC307
Looking back on this class, I think tweeting was a great way to have class discussions! It really allowed us all to share our honest opinions without the pressure of a crowd listening to you talk! #EDUC307
I believe “Mulan” is a good movie that empowers women, even if they portray men as being dominant, Mulan rebels against that and does what she wants even if society may not agree. This movie shows girls that no one can tell you, you cant do something because youre a girl #EDUC307
@mill_emi Im guessing it has a big impact! Social media can detach individuals from eachother and being alienated, im guessing, can be a big influence in being depressed! #Educ307
When watching the Disney video, they didnt mention “The Princess and the frog”. I thought of this when a little girl was saying there were no black princesses, but theyre is! 👸🏾 Not excusing the racism that Disney portrays just wanted to mention Princess Tianna! #EDUC307
I’ve often noticed that when a white criminal is portrayed in the media, they will often show how troubled he/she was, although if a muslim is portrayed they tend to focus on their religioun and automatically mark him/her as a terrosrist... #doublestandards#EDUC307
@mill_emi Not sure either! But I noticed that blooms taxonomy and the digital citizenship was often reoccurring so i would say definitely understand those !
@Carljmsb@LandonChapley Agreed. The focus has to stay on improving equal rights between men and women, not cause hatred between both sexes by having a “war on power” #EDUC307
The idea of women using social media as a tool to be heard made me think of Manal Al-Sharif’s story in relation to her “Womens Right to Drive Campaign”.
When people assume that women have equal rights, they clearly do not look further than their personal experiences and forget to take into account other countries such as Lebanon. #EDUC307#lesson10
I believe that the term feminism has often times been misunderstood. The idea of feminism is for equality between men and women, not for women to be superior to men. #EDUC307#lesson10
