Why are we scared of a stranger in a normal car, but not a stranger in a taxi.
Of spiders, but not beetles.
Snakes, but not fish.
Dogs, but not goats.
Planes, but not cars.
Needles, but not knives.
Dentists, but not surgeons.
Dark, but not closed eyes.
Death, but not sleep.
@Thom_Wolf@alexalbert__ if your friend picked the correct ball/color in a raw 100+ times despite all the challenges you gave him .. there has to be a point where we need to agree that your friend indeed has a super-power. We can't just keep fixating on our closed frameworks.
@Thom_Wolf@alexalbert__ in a row, we are impressed. The fourth time we chuckle nervously .. Fifth time we begin questioning ..
Is there a point where it no longer matters what we THINK it is. But what it actually is?
@Thom_Wolf@alexalbert__ As a metaphor: say you have a bag of colored balls, and you pick a random ball while saying a color out loud: The first time you get it right, we call it luck. The second time it happens again, but we know math's, it's just probability; we call it a coincidence. The third time ..
@Thom_Wolf@alexalbert__ At what point does our perception of certain issues move from "but we know it's not real" .. to "it's happening whether we think it is real or not".
@RadioGenoa Not that I care or support this. But if this was the New Zealand Haka, would it have been more cool? I'm only asking because it sort of reminded me of it, and people seem to love THAT cultural expression.
To demonstrate the power of money & media:
Remember the 5 rich men who were lost in a submarine and several countries worked for days on locating them?
Now, are you aware that at this moment, 41 workers in India have been trapped inside a Himalayan tunnel since November 12?
You don't expect them to say they are losing, do you?
However, the harder they try to convince you that they aren't, the more likely they actually are.
Imagine living in a world where even photos and videos are no longer valid as proof and evidence.
A world where elaborate and convincing unreal realities could be fabricated.
A world where what we think is real could be fake, and what we think is fake could be real. #ai
For history, here is my lieometer:
-40 Beheaded children: 100% fabrication. My assumption: zero
-Hundreds of civilians kiIIed on Oct 7: Massively exaggerated. Maybe tens, non-intentional.
-Thousands dead: Massively exaggerated. Maybe a few hundred, mostly military.
