May we not just grieve, but give:
May we not just ache, but act;
May our signed right to bear arms
Never blind our sight from shared harm;
May we choose our children over chaos.
May another innocent never be lost.
@KaEnglert1 Kaitlin, The Word Collector by Peter H Reynolds would be an excellent read aloud to accompany this! I have a copy if you’d like, or I can read it to your class the next time I’m in for RA!
That was such an important article and it reminded me of this graphic and why representation matters in the materials students have access to. Connection is essential. People want to be seen, valued & affirmed-in school, at work, at home-everywhere.
@AndreaHonigsfel @HeatherLRubin @Lisa_Estrada @CorwinPress@MGomezdelaTorre @DanAlpert1 @ShawnnaSweet@HSeslteacher@CioffiSara@DiGENLTech@lainemarsh Technology is amazing for engaging MLLs. It provides a way for MLLs to show comprehension w/out relying solely on oral language (i.e. Pear Deck) and MLLs are able to plan, practice, and (re-)record oral lang with Flipgrid. Bonus: access to language models from peers ANYWHERE!
@NYCMayor@BilldeBlasio As a NYC Public School teacher of ELLs, my heart goes out to families in need around the city of New York. That being said, in the interest of the greater community and public health, NYC schools need to be closed. #closenycschools#Covid_19
