1/ It's late, but here's the now annual 🧵 summarising some of the results from the 2020 round of #DClinPsych application reviews for marginalised applicants. I 'publicised' essentially only on Twitter this year & reviewed 22 applications. #ClinicalPsychology
Thread: Ireviewed another 20 #DClinPsy applications by marginalised candidates this year and have done some really basic data crunching. All the applicants very kindly agreed for me to include their demographic info & a few offered specific quotes I could share.

🎉Excited to announce our publication: "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Other Sexual Minority Adults in the United States and Their Unmet Medical Needs and Telehealth Use Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020" was published in @LGBTQPubPopHlth 🏳️🌈as Early View https://t.co/3IRKlJDG2m
@sujaik@CharJWright It certainly shouldn't cost that much money!!! When I review doctorate applications, I do it for free... (which means I only review a certain number every year)
@sujaik@CharJWright I don't think it's necessary - but having someone with 'academic English' read through an application and suggest areas for improvement is often worth doing, especially if applying to a Western uni that is likely to privilege certain writing styles because of Eurocentrism.
@Dr_BellaR I'm so sorry, what awful news you've had :( I really recommend @trekstock as a charity, they were great when I had breast cancer at 27. Wishing you all the best as you go through treatment, whatever that ends up looking like ✨
The burnout crisis in healthcare cannot be fixed with mindfulness, resilience & yoga.
We need systems and culture change.
We need interventions that address:
- workload
-staffing
-education
-facilities
-diversity and inclusion
- leadership
-support
Wellbeing is not an add on.
@DClinMutualAid I'm happy to fund two #DClinPsy applications, especially for any racialised applicants and/or applicants with lived experience of psychosis or 'complex mh' (no proof expected!!). Can also review the applications for both people. DM me!

📢Adulterated drugs ⚠️
Potent drugs are being found across the UK that pose much higher overdose risk
As new drugs & synthetics appear its crucial to pass these messages on, speak to people who use drugs abt not using alone, carry naloxone, connect to services for OST, you can also suggest people download the Buddy Up app which can connect them to someone while using.

All survivors who have been in or around the system for awhile carry beloved dead with us. In most cases, there have been years of iatrogenic harm which too often repeat earlier pain and extinguish hope. We have had to watch our friends call out in pain and be judged or ignored.
Overwhelmed with the response so far 🤩 but still recruiting for my current study looking to help understand PrEP usage amongst gay and bisexual men!
I would especially love to hear from those who do NOT currently take PrEP!
