@DividendBreeder Curious why you want a dividend, which creates taxable income, when you don’t need it? Why not just invest in an asset for growth and deferred capital gains?
@brandonwealth If a company pays you an 8% dividend, it’s slicing 8% off the apple you already own.
Now you have 92% of the apple + a taxable slice.
In your 20s–50s, why would you want forced income you don’t need? Let it compound.
Deferred capital gains > dividends.
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal What do you think I’m having conversations about with my clients CPA? Wasting their time? Telling them everything they already know? Just so we can double charge the client? Cmon man.
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal “once it's set up, it is pretty much set and doesn't require much”
Well frick. What am doing for 35-40 hours a week for my clients? You know something I don’t?
Or wait, maybe your life is very different than others.. maybe? Idk.
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal I don’t file taxes, but I have at least 2-3 conversations a year with my clients CPA about their business, income and tax planning. Does ChatGPT call your CPA? Or are you more of a TurboTax kind of dude?
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal a lot of broad assumptions that everyone operates and thinks like you. My clients want their entire financial life managed my a professional. The thought of opening a self directed accounts and buying ETFs and then executing a financial plan isn’t for everyone.
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal People pay out firm a consistent management fee because we get them market returns + then do what they actually hired us for. Our clients will all be in a much better spot even if my fee was double compared to VOO + ChatGPT Advisor.
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal It has been better. But that’s not the point. That’s not why busy professionals running successful businesses hire me. I use low cost funds too. I straight up tell clients they could DIY. They are not dumb. But they pay our fee because of everything else we do.
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal Or like you know, having a real person in their life who knows them, their goals, stresses, and just being an overall guide and friend. In a world where most want their critical thinking done by a LML.
@rmarlow91@OptimizedPort@ankurnagpal Well that’s a very short time frame. 11 months? But since you asked. +3.5%? YTD. After fees. That’s also just their portfolio. Not to mention any savings created with tax planning for the year…
