@Clock_Hypocrisy@RupertLowe10 Grow up. Their presence is illegal. Asylum is now a largely bogus concept enabled by New Labour in 1999 and exploited by economic migrants. Not in the national interest.
@jonnorris12 Rural protection should be non negotiable or it’s just incremental destruction …esp. if you choose the wrong route for a flawed HS concept that has no practical time saving value or fiscal multiplier. Bucks. population has increased 500 pcnt + in 50 yrs…a line has to be drawn.
@PaulJSweeney Completely wrong. a) HS has no practical time saving value in England in a ubiquitously connected world. b) They picked the wrong route.
Rural preservation has nothing to do with NIMBY’s, stupid ideas shld not be in anyone’s backyard.
@KandrikJan@thomwiseman Not if the 10million in 25 years which drivew much of our present infrastructure inadequacies had been a more meaningful and qualified ( in terms of necessity and gdp per capita) 2 million say…
@BBCPolitics@bbclaurak Amanpour never considers that choosing the wrong future at Maastricht and Lisbon were the crux of why Brexit has been so challenging but nonetheless existential for a Britain we once preferred. Unsurprising if one’s loyalties are divided…
@MPrinParr Worth every £ to save it. The pop. of Bucks has increased over 600pcnt in 50 years….it’s no longer truly rural. It’s the last unspoilt bits that are being protected…Why? Bec. HS is a flawed concept re timesaved in a connected world & accordingly they chose the wrong route….
