If you’re watching this and arguing he shouldn’t have been arrested you’re wrong. The footage shows an assault on the PC. Could he claim self-defence?Maybe. He would need to show that he reasonably believed the act was necessary. That can be an honestly held mistaken belief. https://t.co/M9oOa6Ouwh
@HughWoozencroft@liverpxxl9 This is such a good point; 200 miles of country beyond Manchester. The same distance as Manchester is from London. Hard to call it a government of the North in that context.
@sdavieslaw This is not unique to London. Up north prisoners at Wallsend are now transported to Bedlington Mags 3 days of the week rather than North Shields. The other 2 days, prisoners from Bedlington are brought to North Shields…Bedlington Police Station is next door to Bedlington Mags
NEW Why were three boys, aged 14 & 15, not jailed for rape & other sexual offences against two teenage girls in Hampshire?
The sentencing remarks - finally published below - set out how the judge came to his decision - which Court of Appeal will review.

Norman knows this is a lie (he’s professing to be an expert about things he doesn’t understand again), he is just trying to stir up hate and anger. His favourite pastime.
BREAKING NEWS; Youths who Raped Teenage Girls & Filmed the attack FINED just £26 each🤬
Folks the Lunatics have not just taken over the Asylum they’ve Now taken over our CJS > Everywhere I look is just utter Fucking Madness!
£26 is a Quarter of a Parking Fine & these were Girls who had been> RAPED!
Are we Fucking Serious?👇🤷♂️🤦♂️
This is at best ill-informed and at worst deliberately misleading. The £26 is not a “fine” it’s the Victim Surcharge imposed in the Youth Court when a Youth Referral Order is made.
The same way an adult isn’t “fined” £187 when they get a suspended sentence.
Three teenage boys have been spared jail and “fined” just £26 despite raping girls as young as 14 in three separate cases, it has emerged

.@SBarrettBar tends to block lawyers as they are well placed to call out his legal illiteracy. But for those interested in why there is no further retrial in the Manchester Airport case, it has nothing to do with the government, as Barrett alleges, but simply the application of clear legal principle.
@SteHow19@MagistratesBlog@PatrickChristys What was offered? The burdon of proof on the Crown is always BYR (now phrased as “satisfied so that you are sure”). The jury can never convict on the balance of probabilities. I could just about see a jury being told that if they think someone is innocent on BOP then acquit.
@Sisyphuscomplex@GrahamHumphrys Not sure it’s me who needs to do that. But hey I’m only the one actually working in the relevant profession what do I know.
What Keir Starmer needs to do. Starting tomorrow. 1/
- the electorate is fragmenting into values-based blocs – Green, nationalist, xenophobic/nostalgic, Islamist
- threat actors – CRINK, MAGA – are conducting hybrid warfare to exacerbate the tensions
- Labour is floundering because of systemic checks and balances
@sherlock_comms Getting rid of the canteens and police houses was an awful decision. It does make it very hard for young officers to join up without family support.
@Chooselife63@AchingRat In Palmer D killed a man and it was a lawful action. The “nicety” refers to the level of force. It says that in heat of the moment a person may act honestly and instinctively in using a level of force they believed was necessary even if that appears excessive in hindsight.
