My biggest takeaway: HIV does not mean the end of a healthy, fulfilling life. With effective treatment and viral suppression, people living with HIV can have HIV-negative partners, have HIV-negative children, and live full lives. ❤️ #UequalsU

“If I order two containers of tea from Kenya, that tea shouldn’t come to UK before it’s shipped back to me in Ghana. We must have the opportunity to have that container shipped directly to me in Ghana. And so, even though we have African continental free trade area (AfCFTA), the existing trade networks that were set up by the colonial masters do not favor exchanges amongst ourselves.” - John Mahama, President of Ghana speaking on his plans as Ghana assumes the chairmanship of the mostly pro-colonial, toothless and ineffective African Union.
Did you know that this is what has been happening in Africa - one African country orders something from another African country, and rather than receive their goods directly from the selling country, goods first go to the nation of the colonial masters of that African country, before getting shipped to the African country? Did you know this?
Same goes for phone calls, Air travels (even though this is changing now) and so many other colonial entanglements to ensure we stay internally divided in perpetuity. But we’re supposed to be “independent.”
John Mahama says all the right things and his body language checks out for the most part, but I have a hard time believing anyone who rose to power through the colonial electoral system in today’s Africa can truly fight against the colonials.
Two things: He’s either being a genuine revolutionary rebel or a tool to market a new fake Pan-Africanist agenda on behalf of the colonials, especially now that they know Russia is making tremendous inroads into the psyche of Africans, with the offer of real independence, as seen in the Sahel.
I’m willing to cut him a slack and wait to see where this all leads. But it’s a joy to behold, given what we’re having to deal with in Nigeria and elsewhere.
Saudi Arabia spent billions of dollars to promote Islam in Africa so that everyone can go to heaven together but ask them to give you citizenship of Saudi Arabia, they will refuse but want us to go to heaven same heaven
