Rwanda is open
The President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, said that Africa has faced many challenges since early times, including colonialism, slavery, epidemics, and other issues that continually remind it of its position in the international arena and what it needs to do.
The Head of State made the remarks on Thursday, May 14, 2026, while opening the International Africa CEO Forum, which is taking place in Rwanda.
President Kagame said, “There will always be challenges. We have had centuries of many things: slavery, colonialism, wars, epidemics, and all of that will always be there. But we cannot stay stuck there. We must learn from them to expand what we are doing ourselves, and let our actions guide us in how we confront these challenges.” #ACF2026
President Paul Kagame is very clear;
"We (Africans) must be able to say no instead of waiting to be ripped off by shrewd foreign actors"
"We can't just be people who are waiting to be ripped off by someone who is shrewd enough and have power. No, we must be able to say no"
On double standards:
"They come here lecturing people on democracy, human rights and they are doing it in one with one arm and the other they are just taking away everything that people own"
"They are holding a whip in their hands and are using a stick to beat those they wish to control"
On sanctions:
"Sanctions are designed to hurt and indeed do so, but I think we would be hurt more by not doing what we are doing. It costs more to say yes to the wrong thing"
On Africa’s position:
"Africa is rich in everything except leverage"
"Why is Africa always at a disadvantage?"

"Sanctions are painful, but it would have been worse if we weren’t doing what we’re doing now," said President Paul Kagame.
Rwanda will never be bullied ever.

@oswaki We can't allow everything that's why umuntu ashobora kuburara abizi ko hari iduka ririmo ibyo kurya akeneye...
Ibi ntabwo bikwiye, there's more ways rather than this.
They shall be supported in other ways rather than this.
You see, again, the whole world was watching. Mercenaries came from Europe, then other confused brothers and sisters from our continent. They sent in arms, they sent in weapons, soldiers, they sent in everything to support a government that supports genociders, people who killed our people here.
One million people we lost in a hundred days were murdered by the same bastards. So they came and gathered along our border.
If you people knew the stories of what was found in Goma, in Bukavu, and so on, you would understand it. You would understand that the issue was not about fighting so-called FCM23, it was aimed at Rwanda.
Boy, you ask them what happened. What happened was only a fraction of what we could actually do.
President Kagame
I'm blessed to have seen with my own naked eyes the leadership of President Paul Kagame.
The man turned pain into progress, division into unity, and Rwanda into the of hope for Africa.
One day, I'll sit my grandchildren and tell them: "I lived through the era of a TRUE LEGEND."
