you know an actress is doing her job when people have this many different opinions and criticisms about the character she’s portraying. pheem is toxic, deranged, psychotic and genuinely difficult to like, and lena is doing a phenomenal job bringing that side of her to life.

the series has made a few changes from the novel, but if you actually pay attention and have read the novel, you’ll understand pheem’s character and why she is the way she is. if you’re adapting a novel, the whole point is to bring those characters and their complexities to life. why would we want them watered down just to make them more palatable?

lena and miu are doing such an incredible job as pheem and pan, and the storyline is already so good. criticize the characters, discuss their actions, have your opinions, that’s literally what fiction is for. but please remember to separate the actors from the characters they’re portraying. lena is NOT pheem and miu is NOT pan.
