Hey EMNLP'25 (@emnlpmeeting) Are you planning to update your webpage?
Other than the main conference track deadline, I can't find the deadlines for any other tracks, e.g., industry.
A clip from our Davos panel in which Daphne Koller and I talk about the saturation of LLM performance, the exhaustion of text data, and the necessity of using sensory data to get AI systems to understand the world.
I make the point that training AI systems to understand the world from video will require the use of non-generative architectures because predicting video in pixel space is too hard. I describe the idea of Joint Embedding Predictive architectures without mentioning the name: predicting in abstract representation space.

Companies are planning to train models with 100x more computation than today’s state of the art, within 18 months. No one knows how powerful they will be. And there’s essentially no regulation on what they’ll be able to do with these models.
Many people don’t understand how challenging Minecraft is for AI agents.
Let me put it this way. AlphaGo solves a board game with only 1 task, countably many states, and full observability.
Minecraft has infinite tasks, infinite gameplay, and tons of hidden world knowledge. 🧵
Today, youChat goes live.
Open, broadly capable, conversational AI for search with knowledge of recent events and citations of sources.

Today in @Nature: #AlphaTensor, an AI system for discovering novel, efficient, and exact algorithms for matrix multiplication - a building block of modern computations. AlphaTensor finds faster algorithms for many matrix sizes: https://t.co/E18DezRPTL & https://t.co/SvHgsa0SNV 1/
Large language models can exhibit falsehoods, discriminatory language, and other unsafe behaviour. Introducing Sparrow: a dialogue agent that can search the internet and is trained to be more helpful, correct, and harmless using RL from human feedback: https://t.co/8VtsFjuGcm 1/
Congratulations to @demishassabis and John Jumper who have won the 2023 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences for the development of #AlphaFold, our AI system that solved the 50-year-old challenge of protein structure prediction. 1/
On April 22, Mila @TechaideMTL AI Conference will be featuring two keynote speakers: Max Welling, (@wellingmax) and Martha White (@white_martha). All proceeds will go towards @CentraideMtl to support their fight against poverty and social exclusion.

What if a search engine actually asked you what sources you prefer (like reddit) rather than spying on you and then still selling your query to the highest bidding advertiser?
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that "chief executive officer" is a "made-up title" and that many corporate titles "don't mean anything," speaking at the #WSJCEOCouncil https://t.co/UcdhalJ2jK
