It’s the last Wednesday before Christmas on @PhDForum online study room. On Wednesday’s we run the schedule ourselves to give queen @Donna_Peach a break- anyone that wants to put their hand up to make an announcement make yourself known! Or @alifQual too🎄🎄
“We stan life-saving fans.” Nagen, a 33-year-old with psychosocial disabilities, needs your help to get him off death row in #Singapore. Help us spread the word and call on Singapore to grant him clemency.
Great to hear of so many different and exciting art research projects during the #APARN21 virtual meet-up today. I spoke of my recently completed PhD practice-led research project
Still processing the news this week that I passed my PhD with minor amendments. Extremely grateful to the two examiners that engaged with the project in the manner it was meant–curiously and openly–and for their considered feedback. Check off some boxes and next step Dr 💃
Whenever you need a shot of good energy and a sense of community and support just join the @PhDForum to watch people submit their thesis. @jodiejomc did a superb job at hitting that button 🎉🎉
@semurphyyanez @rach_dh @rinnywee @McKenna_Aspell @Suyashjolly611 @PhDMumLife @AcademicChatter You realise you know absolutely nothing about this person, their life, or the workload that is shared yet you decide to make assumptions to prove your point? Academia doesn’t have to be as all consuming as it has been for you, it doesn’t mean they aren’t committed
@PhDMumLife @AcademicChatter@PhDVoice@academicvoices@Momademia The union at my university has worked hard and for a long time to ensure staff are paid for meetings, and unpaid labour is minimised. But there is still pockets of work like admin with students and prep that gets unaccounted for. Im sorry your uni is taking advantage of you
Stacy Lo discussing meme culture and the Hong Kong protests over 2019-20 as part of the *International Committee to Save the Earth through Speculative Fabulation* 🌏
So great to see Marieeve Levasseur presenting with this filter for their topic on future possible worlds via science fiction, fabulation, and feminism as part of Intraactivity symposium
Day 2 (night for me in Singapore time) of the Intraactivity: The Posthuman, Fabulation, and Matter symposium by Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. Lots of great keynote speakers including Rosi Braidotti and Pru Gibson yesterday
Huge congratulations to 2 extremely inspirational and superhuman women I feel lucky to have met @PhDMumLife for submitting your thesis after a truly difficult slog + @ahelifcim for completing the viva with no corrections, a genius in mathematics and poetry!
Anyway, some first steps. I've written to the VC on behalf of @CHASS_Aus, with @AlphiaPossamai from @AustSoc and I know @aus_anth and others have also written. You can sign here https://t.co/85IORoWLDW . Plenty more work to do.
@jeffvandermeer@mcdbooks Borne is a favourite of mine, loaned from the library twice, bought hard cover copy to match hard cover dead astronauts, gifted strange bird to a friend, it’s a series I can keep returning to and find something new each time
@thomvandooren Maybe the Shape of Water, or Godzilla v Kong the little girl signs with Godzilla. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (aliens talking through tones at the end? 🤷🏻♀️) Joe’s Apartment (talking cockroaches?) not sure I endorse any of these as good though
