@manunderbridge My partner Joe bought the Biggie one. We were so excited. But he's very very tiny - like three inches tall. Too little for a garden. Joe loved hip hop. He died in June. His tiny rapper sits on his bookshelf with all of his much loved books.

@the_megalopolis Creative Alliance, Baltimore Clayworks, Peabody Conservatory free concerts, Art Walk, MICA Open House. I’ve lived in 5 other states, several big metros (NYC, Miami, Bay Area) and no place had so much cool free/affordable, accessible community arts as here ☺️

@Mrjjrocks I mean think about the scenes of the poor sections vs rich sections in The Titanic! All white people! Hehehe

@Mrjjrocks Even in white European cultures, rich peoples had estates, poor people lived huddled together in loud cities. It makes sense to me at least. Life is more communal, therefore louder. And when entertainment is not available at home (bug TV, piano in home) you entertain each other.

@Mrjjrocks I think it’s more complex & nuanced than white rich people love silence. Wealthy people in general seem to remove themselves from street life - gated communities are everywhere. I imagine growth of suburbs where emphasis is on small nuclear family vs urban community contribute.

@Mrjjrocks Plenty of very rich white kids had loud parties all the time at Amherst. But some cultures do seem to live more of their lives outside, and loudness is more accepted. Constant cohetes in Guatemala to celebrate ANYTHING. Life is fully, loudly lived on the street in Havana.
