Officially Dr Aliya! I’ve just passed my PhD at Cambridge with no corrections. The daughter of Somali refugees who came to the UK in the 90s, I owe everything to my parents. Grateful to my brilliant supervisor and examiners, and to have spent years studying early Islamic history.
