I wish romance books would let the MC have actual female friends/relatives that matter in the narrative. It's always just her and the guy, women the guy knows, or the women in her life are all just one note "yes men" who only exist to serve her. They are never people.

i love this trope when its not done in the "i can fix him" way but in the "i want to be deserving of her" way. all of the guys had pretty selfish intentions at first but in the process of falling in love realized they wanted to be selfless for their girl
