Killing universities the Pakistani colonial way
Universities aren’t startup factories or economic saviors. They’re being crushed under bureaucracy while expected to “solve” everything & keep the Lord Macaulay system alive. They can’t magically produce business & innovation
https://t.co/gjho4TFDQb
Universities have become attached government departments. Bureaucrats & politicians dominate syndicates, senates & decision-making. Bureaucracies don’t produce teaching or research — they produce paperwork.

Chancellors are a busted feudal myth from medieval England — purely ceremonial, never meant to “run” universities. Yet governors & politicians take the role deadly seriously & strangle institutions with political control.

Stop killing universities with premature entrepreneurship slogans, ORICs, patents & incubation theatre. First build real knowledge ecosystems, autonomy, problem-solving & academic freedom. Only then can innovation follow.
Universities must return to their true mandate: thinking deeply about society’s problems, training minds, generating useful knowledge — not becoming fake Silicon Valleys or bureaucratic extensions.
Time to free higher education from this mess.
This gatekeeping culture in pakistan is literally hell. I hate it when people gatekeep education guidance, career paths, research opportunities, future plans, their own publications I truly believe that when you help others to navigate their path,

I welcome the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Too many lives have been lost, and we will not break the cycle of violence until the people of Kashmir are given a voice.
They should decide their own future — and deserve to live in peace and freedom like anyone else.
The less talent they have, the more pride, vanity and arrogance they have. All these fools, however, find other fools who applaud them.

It is time for Pakistanis to WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE. The country cannot be run through politically engineered experiments that resemble a circus. It needs a govt truly representative and fully owned by its citizens.
It needs to move away from nonsense economic policies & prepare for deep reforms; not just repeated price adjustments & taxing the already over taxed. Start focusing on unlocking local resources and investments instead of selling pipe dreams or "game-changer" deals from abroad.
The security state needs to give way to an open, pluralistic, tolerant state with a strong rule of law. The only red line needs to be the constitution as framed by Parliament but interpreted and enforced by the judiciary. The rest is all ego.
Our foreign policy needs to be simple, transparent and focused on economic security of our own people first and foremost. It all boils down to the size of our market and what we sell or buy from the world. Thats what is left of diplomacy in the modern world. All else is a photo op and tea.
Most of the public sector needs to be reformed, privatised or simply shut down. Its eating away at huge sums whilst adding no value. In fact its crowding out efficient deployment of resources. Stop using SOEs as employment bureaus for constituencies of politicians with municipal horizons.
How far have we drifted from the above urgent yet common sensical priorities? The State is deploying its energies on what outcomes?
Its time to give ppl hope, not fear. Its time to pull together and not sow hatred and divisions. These memories don't go away when the find a slot in the collective consciousness of nations and linger on like a disease for decades. Conversely, in times of crises, opportunities are born & nations create moments of history. Take your pick Pakistan..its not a difficult choice.
Several Pakistani universities have closed temporarily after being left unable to pay staff salaries due to soaring inflation – and more could be on the way to closing, academics warn
