Upon instructions from friends and family, I have submitted an urgent complaint to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (@UN_SPExperts) copied to the Special Rapporteurs on Freedom of Expression, Belief, and Association concerning the detention of @ImranKhanPTI 's sister Mrs Aleema Khan (@Aleema_KhanPK)

On 20 September 2026, Mrs Khan was seized from near her house in Lahore and the authorities, after first refusing to acknowledge that they had detained her, have now stated that she is being held under the draconian Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, which allows the authorities to order the detention of individuals without court approval.

It is clear that Mrs Aleema Khan has been targeted because of her support for her brother (@ImranKhanPTI) and because of her advocacy for democracy in Pakistan and we have submitted that her detention is unlawful and arbitrary, as it is without a proper legal basis and has taken place because of her exercise of her rights to freedom of expression, belief, and assembly, and in an attempt to dampen support for the legitimate public protest in support of Imran Khan planned for 27 September 2026.

After speaking up for Aleema following her seizure, her two sisters have now also been detained.

We ask you all to raise the case of Aleema Khan and her sisters wherever you are and for the international community to act for democracy in Pakistan.

Now my Aunts Dr. Uzma and Noureen, along with my cousins Shershah and Shahrez have now been abducted as well.

They have broken into my aunties and cousins houses and forced them
into vehicles with no explanation.

No reasons for arrest have been stated.

No news has been released as to where they have been taken.

This is criminal behaviour. Inexcusable. The Pakistani people are petrified of their own leaders.

No upstanding nation should tolerate this criminal establishment. Intervention is now imperative.

The world MUST take action.

My mother, Aleema Khan, was abducted after leaving home this morning. Our family has had no contact or news of her whereabouts. She is on bail in all cases against her in Lahore. We demand the government immediately disclose her whereabouts and ensure her safe return.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf condemns in the strongest terms the illegal arrest of Aleema Khanum from outside her home.

This is not law. This is an illegal arrest. This is cowardice and a deliberate attempt to worsen the situation.

Maryam Nawaz never tires of claiming that women are a “red line.” Today that slogan stands exposed. An elderly lady ,the sister of an imprisoned former Prime Minister ,has been illegally arrested from her doorstep because she refused to stay silent about her brother’s illegal detention, solitary confinement, and denied medical care.

If women are a red line, why is an old woman being subjected to an illegal arrest? Why is a sister being punished for demanding what the Constitution and the courts already require?
By this illegal arrest the Form-47 government wants to create trouble by design. This is a calculated attempt to deteriorate the situation, provoke a reaction, and then hide its own illegitimacy behind “law and order.” This is not justice. This is a manufactured crisis.

The Form-47 government is fully responsible for this illegal arrest. Those who occupy power without a mandate own this crime. We will not tolerate this illegal arrest. We demand her immediate release.
A government that cannot answer the people on the streets now answers a woman’s voice with force. That is not strength. That is fear.

PTI demands Aleema Khanum’s immediate release, disclosure of her whereabouts, and her safe production before a competent court. End this campaign of intimidation against Imran Khan’s family.
Release Aleema Khanum now. The Form-47 government will be held responsible.

Today, my aunt, Aleema Khan, has been abducted by police in Lahore. Our family has been told nothing about where she has been taken. Her family and lawyers cannot reach her.

This is the behaviour of a fascist government - abducting people, terrorising families and trampling human rights, due process and the rule of law while pretending to stand for democracy.

First they imprisoned my father. Now they are coming after his family.

We demand immediate access to her for her family and lawyers, full disclosure of where she is being held, and her immediate release.

The world cannot keep looking away from what is happening in Pakistan.

Aleema Khan MPO detention order is not only mechanical on its face but this is a glaring factual blunder: the DC Lahore could not even get the police station right. FIR No. 96/23 was registered at Sarwar Road, not Race Course Police Station. Such a basic mistake speaks volumes about the non-application of mind. Was the order even independently examined, or simply reproduced and signed?
