☑️This receptor normally binds leukotriene D4 (LTD4), a potent mediator derived from arachidonic acid via the 5-lipoxygenase pathway.

☑️LTD4 binding to CysLT1 leads to bronchoconstriction, increased vascular permeability, mucus secretion, and recruitment of inflammatory cells like eosinophils.

☑️By blocking CysLT1, montelukast prevents these downstream effects, thereby reducing airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and inflammation in conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis.

☑️Importantly, montelukast does not affect the synthesis of leukotrienes but rather prevents their interaction with the receptor.
