@AutisticDoctor Ugh. I am so sorry. This is such a classic healthcare experience with such perfectly predictable access barriers that are easy and inexpensive to fix!
@ADHD_XRD @ociswap Wow! This is the most incredible thing ever. Thank you so much! We are so grateful and deeply honored. Thank you for believing that what we do matters.
@AutismBookClub Yes. It gets worse when I’m dysregulated. Which is often. I keep my phone ringer off for a lot of reasons, but the impact of recovering from a post-ring startle is the most critical reason
@TheNeuroHuman How appalling. I am so sorry that you’ve been treated this way for asserting your legal right to request a reasonable accommodation to make the air safe to breathe while seeking healthcare.
All Brains Belong continues our universal KN95/N95 masking policy to enter the office. We also have high grade air purifiers in every room. Everyone deserves to access healthcare without fear of disabling illness. #CovidIsNotOver#CovidIsAirborne#LongCovid#healthcare#inclusion
@DoencaProf Medical practices that don’t enforce masking might as well have hurdles at the entrance and a motion activated sprinkler.
Nothing says “accessible” or “equitable” like making medical visits a hazard. 🤬

@AutismBookClub I no longer have spoons to engage with comments like that, I commend you for trying! If someone said that to me, I’d wrap up the conversation as soon as I could, and then try to avoid interacting with them ever again.
@artistAuDH I have that too from my EDS. I subluxed my jaw during xrays. I’m sorry your dentist took their mask off, ugh. What’s wrong with people?! I’m glad it went ok-ish though.
@ChrisPalmerMD@chydorina I could not agree more! In my medical practice, 95% of our adult patients have this constellation of intertwined conditions: https://t.co/sGxQqmELGt Most had previously been labeled with multiple psychiatric diagnoses, shamed and invalidated for decades.
@artistAuDH How did it go?! Mine was the best dental care of my life. Plus maybe one of the most COVID safe places I’ve been all pandemic outside of my house. I hope yours went ok!
@artistAuDH I’m allegedly going to the dentist thurs also. The last time I tried this (different practice), it was so unsafe that I walked out. This time, I’m reminding myself I can walk out anytime. You can, too!
@DrAimeeGrant @babyfriendly @MARGAUTISM I am so grateful you’re out there doing this work! Breastfeeding an autistic child as a then-unrecognized autistic mother was the most traumatizing time of my life. Did All the Things come up? Connective tissue and vascular aspects of lactation, I wish I had known at the time!
@Emma40025133 So many internal conflicting access needs for this constellation of intertwined conditions so many of us share. We wrote about this in our clinician guide: https://t.co/sGxQqmELGt
