@gunrights Did I read the bill correctly? Any centerfire fire arm that can hold more than 20 rounds is an "assault firearm". The same gun with a 19 round mag is fine, but add one more..& only centerfire, rimfire with a 30rd mag is ok? These people are almost as stupid as IL politicians.

Illinois State Trooper Thrown into Air by Stolen Vehicle During Pursuit — Chicago South Side — 2023

In January, 2023, Illinois State Police troopers attempted to stop a black BMW on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 47th Street and Wentworth Avenue that matched a vehicle used in a carjacking about an hour earlier.

The BMW fled, became blocked by traffic, then accelerated again as troopers approached on foot.

One trooper was on or near the hood when the vehicle jolted forward, striking a Jeep and throwing the officer into the air. He landed hard but got back up and continued the pursuit.

A witness captured the dramatic moment on video, showing the trooper flying off the vehicle amid the impact.

The stolen BMW later crashed at West 47th Street and South Federal Street in Fuller Park. Chicago police arrested a juvenile passenger; no driver was immediately apprehended at the scene.

Both troopers suffered injuries (non-life-threatening), and the ISP vehicle was damaged during the escape. The incident highlighted the risks of foot pursuits near fleeing vehicles.
